This procedure causes different feelings and sensations. Some are somewhat frightened even by the thought of it, others plunge into a state of serenity close to intrauterine and seem to give birth anew. One way or another, floating was invented to completely relax the nervous system and for those who have problems with this, it is worth trying it.
Floating (from the English float – “to float on the surface") was invented back in the middle of the last century by the American neurophysiologist and psychoanalyst Dr. John Lilly, who was looking for a method to completely relax the mind, while being conscious. So he came up with the idea to place a person in conditions where there would be no irritants, only a comfortable state in which absolutely nothing would be felt by the senses. And the solution was found. After several improvements, floating has come down to our time as a method of healing and restoring the body. The classic option is to place a person in an individual chamber with warm water (the temperature of the person's body and the air in the room), which contains a high concentration of salt, so that the body remains on the surface, like a raft. At the same time, the chamber is completely soundproofed and completely dark. Thus, the body enters an atmosphere of complete rest, when the brain can reconfigure, transform human experiences and activates its resources, which allows you to relieve stress and even chronic pain. Nevertheless, not everyone perceives the classic floatig calmly because of the peculiarities of the psyche. Some have even taken to calling the float chambers "water coffins". Therefore, other options began to be developed, allowing a larger number of people to try the unique procedure. However, the inclusion of sound and light accompaniment, floating in open pools or together contradicts its original goal – complete isolation. Therefore, one cannot count on the unique effect of the so-called sensory deprivation. There is also "dry" floating, which, due to the special coating of the bath, excludes contact of the body with water, but retains a feeling of weightlessness. Despite the cardinal differences, modern variants of floating still have a positive effect on the human body and psyche. Being practically in a weightless state, in a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere allows the body to relax, calm down and discard negative thoughts.3 tricks to quickly deal with stress Before the floating session, you can perform a relaxing massage, which is especially recommended if you have problems with your neck or back. Contraindications to the procedure can be cardiovascular diseases, epilepsy, unhealed wounds, skin and ear diseases, as well as a state of intoxication.
