Asahi massage (translated from Japanese “Morning Sun”) differs from traditional European techniques. It is based on a fairly aggressive effect on the skin of the face. In many ways, he ignores the generally accepted lines of massaging. For example, mechanical action on the area around the eyes is performed on both eyelids from the inner corner to the outer one. The approach to the effects on the skin and muscles around the mouth is also significantly different.
The force of pressure in the Asahi massage is on the verge of a pain threshold. Such a “strange” technique for a European cosmetologist has a justification. It consists in a completely different approach to massage.
The Japanese method of mechanical action on the face works not only with the skin, but also with superficially located facial muscles, as well as with all other structures that form the face, including bone tissue.

Forehead

Eyes

With your middle fingers, move from the outer corners of the eyes along the lower eyelid towards the inner corners of the eyes, then return through the upper eyelid to the outer corner of the eyes. Remove the second chin
This exercise will reduce the double chin. Place the pad of your thumb on the tip of your chin and press up towards your ear. Repeat the same on the other side of the face.
General exercise
Place your palms in the center of your face, covering your nose. Apply an effort, as if squeezing stagnant lymph in the direction of the ears and then down to the collarbones. Next, rub your forehead with your right hand to prevent and eliminate wrinkles. Movements should be directed up and down and from left to right. Place your left hand under your chin for stability. Then place your hands in the center of your forehead and lower yourself to your collarbones.
Varieties and techniques of carrying out – basic recommendations for implementation
Japanese massage can be lymphatic or deep, with elements of manual therapy. The most effective are massage exercises of Tsogan, Shiatsu, Asahi, Kobido, Takashi Isamu, Korugi techniques. The selection of the massage method depends on: the facial structure, skin type, the condition of all skin integuments and individual zones, the most suitable pressure force, the location of the area / areas of special emphasis, age.
When using various techniques, methods, it is important to follow the basic rules:
- before the procedure, natural massage bases – oils, creams, lotions – must be applied to the skin of the face for good sliding of fingers on the skin;
- pressure, gentle pressing, with max, but not painful effort;
- in the areas where the lymph nodes are located, the pressure force decreases;
- the study of each area of influence ends with the main movement of Tsogan;
- independent massage is carried out in a sitting position, without support under the back.

Asahi's Japanese massage technique is a complex of 11 procedures for various areas, while, in a strict sequence, the following are worked out:

It follows from this that before doing a massage, a prerequisite is to study the location of the lymph nodes.
Three main rules of massage:
- Before the massage, it is imperative to prepare and thoroughly cleanse the skin. Use scrubbers for this. Thus, the ducts through which the lymph flows are cleared. Since daily use of the scrub is prohibited, a cosmetic lotion is used instead.
- For the massage, you need to thickly lubricate the skin with a fatty substance. For example, you can choose for this cosmetic cream, gel for washing, oat milk, linseed broth, vegetable oil, mineral water with a small amount of oil.
- When the massage is finished, you need to thoroughly wash your face. During the massage, toxins are released, which must be removed from the skin.
Secrets and tips on how to do it right
- Massage cannot be performed on dry skin, so choose a product for yourself with which you will be comfortable with the procedure.
- Make sure that your fingers glide easily over the skin and do not stretch it in any way. Take any cosmetic or massage oil. If oils do not suit you, you can take a regular cream (preferably oily), when choosing a cream, be guided by your skin type. By using an oil or cream, you will minimize the discomfort that can occur when pressing on your facial muscles.

- Do not massage with just your fingertips, use your entire hand, draw lines with your knuckles, this will massage the deep muscles of the face.
- During the massage, the movements should be continuous and always end near the collarbones.

- The procedure can be performed not only lying down, but also sitting and even standing. Most importantly, do not forget to control your posture and “keep your back.”
- The massage should be carried out on a clean face without traces of cosmetics. Do not forget that you need to cleanse your face after the procedure.
- The basic rule for any massage is “do no harm”, therefore it is categorically impossible to put pressure on the lymph nodes. Here, your movements should be especially delicate and gentle.

Contraindications
Tsogan exercises will not work for you if:
- have rosacea,
- have skin inflammation or diseases,
- have problems with lymph nodes,
- allergy to oils (they are used as a base),
- did not master the correct technique for performing the exercises (for this I highly recommend watching several video tutorials with a detailed explanation). At the end of the text, I will post a video with instructions.

How to do Japanese Asahi facial massage (Zogan)
To properly learn how to massage Asahi's face, you can familiarize yourself with the video, which is in Russian (located at the bottom of the article), and you can also do several massage sessions with a professional, and then do it yourself at home.
The main condition for the correct execution of Asahi's Japanese facial massage is stroking and pressing along the lymphatic pathways, while the pressure on the lymph nodes themselves should be minimal. The picture below shows the location of the lymph nodes on the face, please study it before performing the massage.
This is a rejuvenating facial massage, therefore it is indicated for women after 30-35 years old. The procedure must be performed regularly to notice the effect. One-time manipulations will not bring results. It is best to carry out the procedure in the morning after washing. The course is designed for 2-3 months, then you can take a break for several months. It is recommended to do massage daily for the first three weeks, and then 2-3 times a week.
What procedures can be combined with
Light superficial peels can be combined with Japanese massage – these are both home and face peels, which are carried out in the salon. Facial mesotherapy, botox injections for wrinkles are best done after the end of the course.
Complications
Japanese facial massage, like any other, can lead to undesirable consequences. Check them out so you know how to react to them if they arise.
Skin rash (acne, rash)
If you have a rash, then any massage is contraindicated, otherwise you can aggravate the situation and get a completely covered face.
If, before the massage, you had clean skin, then minor rashes may occur, since you actively affect the skin and speed up the metabolism. The massage can be continued, but anti-inflammatory agents should be used in skin care.
If you have a lot of pouring out, then the massage should be stopped for a while and start treating the rash. In addition, the cause of acne may not be the massage itself, but an unsuitable massage agent for your skin or neglect of cleansing your face before and after the procedure.
Swelling in the morning
Do not massage before bed, as this can lead to swelling and puffiness of the face. The best time for Japanese massage is in the morning.
Couperose
This is a very serious problem that can arise with any active massage. Couperose and rosacea are contraindications for performing Asahi massage. If you have small manifestations of these pathological conditions (spider veins on the wings of the nose, single ones on the cheeks), then you can massage with the least pressure and bypass these places, but still there is a very high risk of a new vascular network. As a massage agent, it is better to use a nourishing cream for rosacea.
The appearance of sunken cheeks
For women with a thin layer of fat and sunken cheeks, such a massage is not indicated, as it can lead to significant weight loss of the face and sinking of the cheeks, which will visually make it look older.

If Asahi's massage was performed and after a while unpleasant consequences appeared on the skin, then you need to figure out why this happened.
Let's analyze different cases and ways to solve them.
- Skin rash. The appearance of a rash after the Asahi massage is most often in the area of the lymphatic tract. After acne has been found, you need to stop massage until the rash heals. If this is not done, then acne will spread all over the face. The reason for the appearance of the rash is the wrong base and insufficient cleansing of the skin after the massage.
- Excessive weight loss of the face. You need to perform Asahi massage gently if you have sucked cheeks and a thin layer of subcutaneous fat. Therefore, massage only on the upper part of the face. You should also reduce the frequency of massage or do it at long intervals.
- Swelling of the face upon waking. It is not recommended to do massage in the evening, the best time for Asahi is in the morning. Also try changing your massage base.
- Sagging skin. This problem occurs when the massage is performed incorrectly and the recommendations are not followed. You can prevent sagging by using more massage base.
- Redness of the skin, rosacea. Avoid massage movements during which strong pressure is applied to the skin. Alternatively, loosen the pressure on the problem area. Apply a cream with hesperidin: it will strengthen the walls of blood vessels and remove vascular networks. Do mimic gymnastics. It is also important to see a doctor, as vascular diseases have serious consequences.
What you need to know before you start
You need to follow a few simple rules before the procedure. Do the procedure several times a week before bed. It only takes 8-10 minutes. There are several exercises with fingertips in the complex, which need to be repeated only three times.
Basic rules:
- First, the skin must be free of cosmetics. A basic tonic or gel treatment will suffice. Important: do not do the moisturizing phase with a cream or serum, as with a regular wash.
- Secondly, for Japanese technique, use a special oil / cream for massage (in no case take household edible oil – it will clog the pores and lead to comedones).
- Third, do the movements smoothly. The pressure should not cause pain or a feeling of stretching of the skin.

- Do the exercises while standing or sitting. Look at yourself in the mirror at this moment to control the process.
- After the process, be sure to rinse off the remaining oil and moisturize your face in the usual way.
Korugi massage at home
This is a simplified version of the massage that you can do yourself.
1 Relax the “helmet”
First of all, you need to relax the so-called tendon helmet – the scalp. Muscles are attached to bones. And before doing bone tissue, you need to relax your muscles. We run our fingers into the scalp and massage the tendon helmet with increasing intensity.
The duration of this part of the massage is different for all people. Depends on how stiff the fabrics have already become. But, of course, you can't massage the “helmet” for too long the first time. Moreover, from habit, the fingers will quickly get tired. Massage for about 2-3 minutes to start. Try to go all over the scalp. Perhaps you yourself can understand and “grope” the hardest parts.
2 Preparing the cheeks
We put our elbows on the table. We fold our fingers into a fist and with our knuckles we rest against the area under the cheekbones. We put our face on our knuckles and relax the muscles. Stay in this position for a few seconds, feeling relaxation in the muscles and a little pressure on the cheekbones. Don't overdo it !!! Better under- than over-!
3 Preparing the forehead
Slightly tilt the head back and also press with the knuckles on the upper part of the forehead near the border with the hair. Let go and press a little lower along the hairline, closer to the temples. We pass along the line of hair growth to the earlobes and gently run our knuckles down the side of the neck down to the collarbones – we help the lymph to go down from the face.

And press the sides of the palm 3 times on the hollows above the collarbones.

I would like to remind you once again that massage is strong enough. But this does not mean that you need to do it through pain! You're not going to hurt yourself, are you? Then start performing such a massage in a rather gentle way. Listen to your feelings.
