Why makeup makes you look older at 20 and younger at 40: Reese Witherspoon and her daughter Ava prove it
While scientists are conducting very interesting studies on the effect of makeup on the perception of a woman's age by others, the actress and her "twin" daughter illustrate the results of large-scale experiments with their own example.
Perhaps, of all the star children, it was Ava Phillippe who was lucky to be born and grow up as close as possible to the original copy. No matter how it sounds, but the 22-year-old girl is incredibly similar to her mother, Reese Witherspoon. It seems that the girl did not take anything from her father, Ryan Phillippe. Looking at her, first of all, she draws attention to Reese's incredible blue eyes and the same oval face with a signature prominent chin. Mother and daughter love to be photographed together. The reaction to their selfies and photos from the tracks is always the same – stormy and enthusiastic. Most often they write how both are beautiful and fantastically similar to each other. Reese especially likes such comments, which she honestly admitted in an interview with InStyle: “When they confuse me with Ava, I am always so happy! It helps me feel younger." We really understand Witherspoon. Moreover, no less regularly than they are amazed at the similarity of mother and daughter, subscribers note that they look the same age. Some go even further and carefully note that Reese looks, perhaps, younger than Ava … Of course, such an assumption is exaggerated, but here, as in every joke, there is some truth. And the point is not at all that Ava managed to lose her freshness by her 22 years old – by no means! The reason is rather in too much love for makeup.
“I love sunsets with my baby. Especially when she fixes my makeup," 46-year-old Reese Witherspoon signed a fresh joint photo with her daughter. With Ava's makeup, you really have been on for a long time – a girl from adolescence has been fond of cosmetics and loves to make a make-up for herself, her friends, and her mother. Recently, she has been testing new tools as a pro and doing detailed reviews on them. Among the favorite brands is the professional line of the world makeup legend Pat McGrath, and this says a lot – only experienced users can handle these products. Ava Phillippe is one of them.
True, unlike her mother, she has a slightly different approach. While Reese follows the principle of “less is more”, her daughter adheres to the strategy of “everything and more.” Ava's usual make-up is contouring, and multi-colored shadows, and several shades of tone, and false eyelashes. At the same time, Reese has a standard scheme for the last couple of decades – a light tone, a little blush, dusty pink shadows, mascara. Occasionally she uses red lipstick, which suits her very well, but more often than not, her lips have a subtle nude. As they say, feel the difference. Ava herself, in an interview with People, said that her mother and grandmother influenced her love of cosmetics. Allegedly, since childhood, she could not take her eyes off when professional makeup artists prepared Reese for events. Apparently, these villains have instilled the habit of wearing makeup in full, even for everyday outings. The example of this mother-daughter pair is an excellent illustration for a study that a group of American scientists from Gettysburg College conducted together with the Chanel R&D department a few years ago. For it, 132 women aged 19 to 55 were selected to represent four age clusters – twenty, thirty, forty and fifty. Each participant was photographed without makeup, and then with professional makeup and lighting. A group of people who didn't know the contestants rated their make-up photos in an attempt to determine their age. At the end, they were shown a “before” photo, which surprised many. If we reduce the extended study to a brief summary, we get the following: twenty-year-old makeup has matured – they were often identified as a group of thirty-year-olds, who, in turn, most of those estimating their age gave both with and without cosmetics. But forty-year-olds, like fifty-year-olds, won with make-up – they were assigned to a group ten, and sometimes twenty years younger.
Another interesting feature is that during the experiment, each participant was given two make-ups – with an emphasis on the eyes and with an emphasis on the lips. The skin was covered with foundation in both cases. So makeup with an emphasis on the eyes helped women from almost all categories to appear more beautiful and younger. Lips against the background of minimally made-up eyes did not produce such an effect. Why you look older with shadows: 5 main mistakes in choosing and applyingIt turns out that Reese Witherspoon is doing everything right. She does not forget about makeup, she accentuates her eyes, but she does it as delicately as possible, as makeup artists say when talking about anti-age makeup. This helps to look at least ten years younger. But young Ava, abusing shadows and lipstick, creates all the prerequisites to really look older and be perceived as almost the same age as her mother. Curiously, Reese comments on Ava's make-up experiments only in an enthusiastic way, and does not think to voice his philosophy of minimalism to her. Either he doesn't want to press, or he loves too much when they are confused.
