Beauty trends spring and summer 2022 at Paris Fashion Week

Monochrome makeup in pink and terracotta tones, neon liner, original arrows, "sleek" hair – we discuss these and other makeup and hairstyle trends that we saw at the Paris Fashion Week spring-summer 2022.

Fashion Week has ended in Paris, which put an end to the shows of the spring-summer 2022 collections. We analyzed fashion shows and collected the most interesting beauty trends that will be relevant in six months. Gold, purple and terracotta colors are going to be the most used shades in our beauty bags.

Dior: double hands

Dior creative director Peter Philips presented an interesting eye makeup option at the show – double unfinished arrows. Using black eyeliner, the makeup artist drew thin, neat arrows along the upper and lower lash lines from the middle of the eyelid, and then applied a barely noticeable layer of mascara, leaving the rest of the girls’ face neutral so that bright makeup did not distract attention from the eyes.

Saint Laurent: red lipstick

If, after the Saint Laurent show, you urgently wanted to pick up your favorite red lipstick, then the makeup artist’s goal was achieved. The eyes of most of the models were hidden behind sunglasses, all the magic of makeup focused on their red lips, the shades of which ranged from bright to deep burgundy. The hairstyles were dominated by gathered styling and stylish short haircuts.

Victoria/Tomas: terracotta tones

Peach hues dominated beauty looks at New York, London and Milan Fashion Weeks, but French brand Victoria/Tomas has shown that there’s another shade of orange to look out for next season: terracotta. Makeup artist Tom Sapin created cool monochrome looks using trendy color on the eyelids, cheeks and lips of the models. At the same time, the hair was a little "sleek" and laid advantageously in simple hairstyles thanks to stylist Diana Payton.

Weinsanto: fuchsia makeup

The incredibly bright shade of magenta (or fuchsia) became one of the hits of the spring-summer season back in 2019, remaining in fashion for several years now. The popular magenta has been a staple throughout the Weinsanto collection, and makeup artist Dinah Dagger’s beauty looks are no exception. The color has become key in the make-up of the eyes, cheeks and lips, combined with a bold black lipstick.

Acne Studios lip glitter

Over the years, we’ve seen lips covered in sequins and rhinestones of various shapes and sizes on the catwalks, and for the new season, Acne Studios is back in fashion with a bold beauty trend: glitter on the lips. Large orange and silver sequins set the tone for the whole look and looked good paired with matte skin and wet chemical hair.

Chloe neon arrows and wet hair

Are you happy that orange neon is back on PFW? We are definitely. This time around, a bold orange shade adorned the corners of the model’s eyes with long, sharp winged eyeliners, while sheer glitter replaced the shadows. The rest of the face remained virtually untouched by makeup, and wet hair with a parting in the middle dominated the hairstyles.

Balmain: bronze makeup

There are a lot of gold and brown in the Balmain spring-summer 2022 collection, so it is not surprising that it has become the main one in beauty looks. Modeling legends Naomi Campbell and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy took to the catwalk with make-up in bronze shades of radiant and matte textures. Milla Jovovich also took part in the new show, demonstrating another bright trend of the coming season – a bronze blush, which made itself known at Milan Fashion Week.

Courreges:  under eye liner

Of all the possible shooter options we’ve seen on the catwalks over the last two seasons, Courreges has brought a style we haven’t seen before. The idea comes from a makeup artist named Anthony Prel. On the upper eyelid, he drew classic thick cat eyes, and under the lower lashes he drew ultra-thin lines to the inner corners of the eyes. The gap between the eyelashes and the eyeliner is such a simple but ingenious touch, which for some reason no one had thought of before.

Kenneth Ize: golden accents

Makeup artist Farah Homidi used trendy gilding in the make-up of models at the Kenneth Ize show – on the eyes and even on the nose. Wide winged arrows and liquid gold-colored shadows all over the eyelid looked great on girls with swarthy and dark skin, creating a cool contrast. Hairstyles were handled by hairdresser Yann Turchi, who relied on loose hair and Afro braids.

Coperni: nude make-up with a twist

As part of Paris Fashion Week, supermodel Gigi Hadid walked the Coperni Womenswear Spring/Summer 2022 show with a trendy no-makeup look, which the make-up artist added with an interesting pastel accent on the eyes. Glowing skin and glossy lips were the basis of the look, while the inner corners of the eyes were highlighted with shimmering lavender shadows, which gave the look freshness and additional beauty. You can repeat the trick with your favorite highlighter.

Koche:  sharp arrows and high hair

Koche makeup artist Cecile Paravina reimagined the classic take on black winged arrows with a more original take. She pulled wider ponytails out of the eye and drew thin, short dashes on the lower lash lines. The sharp inner corners traced by the liner were the perfect complement to the equally sharp updo.
