Bright eye make-up, bold accents, bronze blush, wet hair effect and other hair and makeup trends that will be indispensable for the fashionable look of the next spring and summer according to Milan Fashion Week S/S 2022.
The penultimate Fashion Week of the spring-summer 2022 season has died down the other day. Dozens of shows and fashion shows took place in Milan, which set interesting trends that are relevant in six months. Designers have teamed up with their beauty teams to surprise us with amazing ranges of shades and the return of luminous textures. Bright two-tone shadows and dramatic eyeliners dominated the catwalks of Giorgio Armani, Versace, Del Core, Philosophy and Boss, Gigi Hadid stepped out with spiky eyelashes at the Alberta Ferretti show, and makeup artist Peter Philips also came up with something interesting for the models at the Fendi show.
Scroll down to discover the top makeup and hair trends from one of the key fashion capitals for the coming spring/summer season. They complement the London Fashion Week trends and challenge us to be bolder than before.
Versace neon eye makeup
The house of Versace ignited Milan Fashion Week not only with bright fashion looks, but also with bold make-up. Neon arrows for the entire eyelid performed by the virtuoso Pat McGrath became the main decoration of the spectacular beauty looks of Dua Lipa, Emily Ratajkowski, Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti and other models defiled at the brand's fashion show. Hairstylist Guido Palau styled the girls' hair into simple slicked back hairstyles, letting us know that the trend is about to make a comeback.
Giorgio Armani: blurry eyeliner
Traditional black eyeliner and neat eyeliner are still in fashion, but makeup artists have been drawing our attention to blurry eye makeup for several seasons. Abroad, the trend is better known as aqua liner: in this case, the arrow should be shaded a little more than usual, and the eyeliner should be applied not with an intense, but as if with a translucent layer. That's exactly what Armani's creative director of make-up Linda Cantello did, highlighting the models' eyes with blurry sky-tinted eyeliner while keeping the rest of the face minimal.
Alberta Ferretti: spiky lashes
The effect of “spiky" crumpled eyelashes covered with several layers of mascara is, frankly, an amateur trend. However, you can not ignore him, as he loudly announced himself on the podium of the Alberta Ferretti brand. The Italian fashion house unexpectedly surprised the audience with a bold addition to the restrained images with almost no other make-up on the faces of the models: their lips were decorated with a neutral balm, and their cheekbones with a light peach blush. Her hair was styled mostly in loose, low ponytails.
Philosophy: wing arrows
Creative colored arrows are an absolute hit in makeup, adored by fashionistas around the world for more than a year. As part of Milan Fashion Week SS22, make-up artist Petros Petrohilos confirmed the relevance of the trend for the next season at the show of Alberta Feretti's second brand, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. Bright sweeping arrows-wings and the inner corners of the eyes highlighted with color will be with us again next spring and summer. Neat black arrows also remain an unchanged trend.
Dolce & Gabbana: shimmering textures and nudes
The Milan runway has never seen such luxury couture glitter as at the Dolce & Gabbana show with next season's trends. And we are talking not only about clothes and accessories, but also about make-up, where the main techniques of makeup artists were radiant skin and glossy textures of glosses and lipsticks. The latter, by the way, sing an ode to flesh color – it is obvious that there will be a special demand for it in the spring and summer of 2022.
Max Mara: orange tones
The orange make-up boom will continue into the warmer months, as if you look at the new Max Mara collection, it's easy to guess what cheerful color will color the streets next spring. Accessorize fiery trench coats and leather coats with matching accessories and lipstick, and style dark denim and black total bows with delicate peach blush and sequins, inspired by the brand's fashion show in Milan.
Fendi: bronze blush, curls and buns
The trendy blush of the upcoming spring that we saw at the Fendi show is not just a blush of one shade. Makeup artist Peter Philips mixed caramel, peach and butter yellow for a gorgeous look. Bronze cheekbones look very impressive, agree! In order not to obscure all the beauty invented by Peter, hair stylist Guido Palau relied on sleek low buns with a parting in the center, as well as bouffant curls with braids and barrettes on the sides, thus removing strands from the faces of the models.
Fendace: straight hair and monochrome makeup
We can't help but recall the collaborative Versace x Fendi collection, which took place towards the end of the Milan Fashion Week spring-summer 2022, and became the most grandiose and discussed fashion event of recent days. Fashion critics dubbed the unexpected Fendace collaboration a breath of fresh air in the haughty world of haute couture. But the show itself was interesting not only for the presence of legendary supermodels, an abundance of gold, iconic silhouettes, logos and rhinestones, but also for rethought beauty looks, where we are again returning the fashion for perfectly straight long hair (half of the models were wearing wigs imitating the hairstyle of Donatella Versace) and monochrome makeup in bronze tones.
Missoni: wet hair effect
Hairstyles with the effect of wet hair have again become the decoration of Fashion Month. We've seen them everywhere at NYFW and LFW, so the Milan catwalks were no exception. This is the same unchanging spring and summer beauty trend as the winged arrows, with which wet styling appeared at the Missoni show.
Etro: accents under the eyes
The latest and boldest trend from Milan Fashion Week is colorful rhinestones under the eyes. Make-up artist Lisa Butler was responsible for the beauty trick, who came up with the idea of combining these interesting details of different shapes and sizes with a delicate peach and pink blush, bringing festival atmosphere to the images.
