Pick the Right Pencil

Choose the right color

As for the eyebrow pencil, Streicher advises to always focus on the natural color of the hair and select the product exactly to match the roots. So the eyebrows will look as natural as possible. Accordingly, if you have curls in cold colors, you should also choose a pencil with an ashy undertone. If you have honey, copper, red, or brown hair, you can use warmer colored pencils.

When it comes to choosing a brow gel or mascara, Christie recommends going the other way. To prevent your eyebrows from looking unnatural, choose a mascara that is one tone lighter than the pencil and other undertones.

“Basic rule: the brow pencil you use on your skin should be the same shade and depth of color as your natural hair color. Because with a pencil you are trying to imitate natural hairs. If the pencil is ashen, I like to use gels with warm undertones. This gives a two-dimensional effect. If you use two ash tones – a pencil and a gel – the eyebrows will look too dark and unnatural. It's the same with both warm-toned products – they can look red. It's all about balance,” Christie says.

Choose a side

Eyebrows shouldn't be twins, they should look like sisters. And this is natural, because our faces are not symmetrical by nature. Therefore, eyebrows should not be done as a “carbon copy”. If after the correction of the shape of the eyebrows they do not look identical, it does not matter. There is makeup. Christie suggests choosing an eyebrow that you think looks better than the other and suits your face shape more and use it as a basis. Change direction

If at the base of the eyebrow you drew strokes in an upward direction, then near the arch and on the tail you need to change direction. The hairs in these places naturally point down, so the pencil should follow the same direction.
