I don’t know about you, but I constantly have one problem: grease accumulates on the ventilation grill in the kitchen, and the sight of a dirty grill begins to spoil the appearance of my kitchen and just infuriates me. Let's try to figure out how you can clean the ventilation grill from grease and dirt.
Internet to help us!
After searching the world wide web, I have adopted several recipes, which I will share with you.
So, we will be helped to clean the grate:
Apply vinegar to the wire rack with a sponge, blot thoroughly all dirty areas.
Leave the vinegar on the surface for 10 minutes.
Clean the dissolved fat with a coarse sponge or brush.
Cut two lemons in half.
Rub the grate thoroughly with fruits, leave for 10 minutes.
Remove grease with a brush and warm water.
Take a large aluminum pot.
Take a half-pot of water and bring to a boil.
Pour a large amount of baking soda into boiling water (1 cup of baking soda is enough for a 10 liter pot of water).
Now place the ventilation grill and the metal filter from the hood in a pot of water and baking soda.
Let the water boil over a low heat, the fat will gradually move away.
After a while, take out the wire rack and check if the fat comes off well.
If the grease can be removed without problems, take out the wire shelf and rinse it with warm running water and a sponge.
Fat in tight, hard-to-reach places can be removed with a cotton swab.
Attention! The ventilation grill must be removed before cleaning!
- Laundry soap and bleach
To clean the hood at home, it is better to use a laundry soap with a high content of fatty acids (usually 72%). Grate half a bar of this soap. Then pour the shavings with 2 liters of boiling water and stir thoroughly to dissolve the soap completely. Wipe contaminated surfaces with the resulting solution. Leave on for 5 minutes and remove any excess grease with a brush or plastic scraper. Then rinse the cleaned parts under running water.
If the contamination is old, then 50 g of soda and 50 g of salt can be added to the shavings of laundry soap.
Ordinary Whiteness, which contains chlorine, can be a good helper in the fight against fat in the hood. To do this, moisten the contaminated areas with water. Then, using an old toothbrush or sponge, apply the Whiteness to the areas of fat accumulation. Wait 10 minutes and remove the bleach with a damp sponge or cloth.
If the contamination is old, and when boiling, there are residues of contamination in the soda solution, you can wash the hood grate with ammonia.
For these purposes, you will need 0.5 tbsp. alcohol diluted in 3.5 liters of hot water. Considering that ammonia has a pungent smell, it is better to carry out the procedure in a mask so as not to burn the mucous membrane, and also to open the window.
The soaking process will take 1-1.5 hours, after which the mesh can be rinsed under running water and dried with a towel or napkin.
- Dishwashing liquid
Dishwashing liquid will allow you to cope with oily deposits without worries. But this remedy will only work if the contamination is completely fresh.
You will need to dissolve 1 tablespoon of dish soap in 3 liters of hot water. Then put a filter in the prepared solution and leave for 5-10 minutes. After the fat dissolves, you need to wipe the remaining dirt with a sponge or brush. After cleaning, rinse the part with boiling water.
Some housewives still use the kitchen assistant according to the “grandmother's” method.
Rinse the grate with hot water under the shower.
Prepare a cleaning mixture by mixing 3.5 tablespoons of mustard with 2 teaspoons of regular shampoo. Dilute the composition with hot water with vinegar (50/50) until a thin slurry is formed.
Process the mesh from the hood with the mixture.
Soak a towel in hot water and wrap it around the wire rack. Leave for half an hour.
After a while, clean the mesh with a brush and rinse.
