Facial contouring: why you need it and how to do it right

33

What you need to know about facial contouring, how to use this makeup technique correctly step by step, as well as your favorite beauty products for creating contouring, was shared by top makeup artist, official Makeup Expert AVON Cosmetics Ukraine Oleksandr Kodak.

A lot has been written about facial contouring – every portal and every magazine has repeatedly told about the amazing transformation after face correction with makeup. But at the same time, few people use this technique.

It seems to me that girls are afraid to make a mistake and worry that face contouring is difficult and time consuming. In the article I develop such myths. Read to the end and you will find out that face correction with makeup is quick and easy!

What and how to do contouring

Facial correction can be done with cream or dry textures. For every day I recommend using the second. Correction in this way takes only one to several minutes.

Before applying corrective powder, prep your face, apply foundation and powder, or just powder to even out skin tone and create a foundation for facial correction.

Take a face brush. Although these brushes are soft, they are quite knocked down and dense – this allows you to create clearer contours.

If you don't have time to deal with face types, you have already read a lot of articles, but still haven’t decided to do the correction yourself, use the following tips.

  • First, apply corrective blush under the cheekbones. To set the desired line, put your finger on your cheek and find the area under the cheekbone. If it was not possible to determine the correction line in this way, then imagine a line running from the center of the ear to the corners of the lips and ending at the tip of the nose. This will be the correction zone. Blend the corrector up with light circular motions. Don't apply too much: it's easier to apply multiple times than to smudge the stain.
  • Now imagine an oval on the face and everything that goes beyond its area, darken with a corrector. Remember: everything that we darken becomes visually smaller. So you can correct a too high forehead or visually stretch the face.
  • At the end, wipe the brush on a dry cloth or sponge and carefully blend the borders in a circular motion.

My Favorite Facial Products:

1 MAC Powder Blush in Harmony is a face blush with a cool undertone and pigmented. It is quite difficult to shade them, but the result is excellent. Not very suitable for snow-white porcelain skin.

2 Smashbox Step By Step Contour Kit is a great palette for contouring your face. Includes a universal touch-up shade, bronzer, light highlighter and a travel-size touch-up brush. The highlighter is not very successful, but everything else compensates 🙂 Suitable for all skin tones.

3 Kevyn Aucoin The Art Of Sculpting And Defining Volume II is a luxurious palette with concealers and blushes for all skin tones. Of the shortcomings – the most expensive palette on this list.

4 Avon Define Sculpt Face Palette is a versatile face sculpting palette with cream and dry textures. It is presented in two shades with golden and pearl highlighter. Easy to apply and blend out. Pigmentation is light to medium.
