Makeup is a clear structure. Consistency and choice of products play a huge role in whether you can achieve a look with a hint of trendy no-makeup makeup, or your foundation will be visible from a mile away. We have prepared seven tips on how to make the tone lay on the face evenly and look natural.
Prepare your skin
“Behind the scenes, skin care can sometimes take 20-30 minutes, while makeup itself only takes two," says Tim Quinn, makeup artist and national director of Armani Beauty.
How well the skin is hydrated will largely determine how much coverage you get.
Start with a soothing mist or mask. Then apply all the other components of your beauty ritual, such as serum and cream. Do this in light circular motions, waiting a few minutes after each step. This will enhance the effect of the products and avoid redness that can ruin makeup.
“If your skin doesn't have enough moisture and you put foundation on it, it will just fizzle out,” says Quinn. Dehydrated skin absorbs tonal pigments, after which the accompanying substances form a film with their residues. Those with oily skin should simply swap out heavy creams for lighter textures. These are available from Biotherm, Clarins and Clinique. And especially for the summer season, Nivea and Garnier released hyaluronic gels that not only perfectly moisturize, but are also instantly absorbed without leaving a greasy film.
Use primer correctly
Those who apply the same make-up base all over their face run the risk of not getting the desired result – the foundation will still be noticeable. Makeup artist Daniella Chinchilla, who works with Ariana Grande, recommends using an oil-based primer for the T-zone, and silicone for the rest of the face. “For most people with oily skin, sebum is secreted differently in each specific area,” says Chinchilla. “And if you apply a mattifying primer to a dry area, it will absorb moisture and make the skin look lifeless.”

The silicone-based base hides pores and mattifies the skin, creating a smooth canvas for makeup. Such primers protect the skin from oiliness and sweat for a long time, so they are ideal for the summer season. Oil bases perfectly nourish the skin, but are more suitable for the heating season.
Apply concealer before foundation
If you apply foundation before you cover the redness and bruising under the eyes, you risk using too much foundation, which will definitely be visible on the face. To prevent the foundation from showing even upon close inspection, first apply a light concealer. It will cover all the main imperfections and help to avoid the effect of the mask.
Do some light sculpting
Sculptor is the most criticized cosmetic product. Why? All due to the fact that few people know how to use it correctly. The sculpting product should give the effect of a light shadow, not a California tan. Therefore, choose a sculptor (not to be confused with bronzing powder) a little darker than your own skin tone and blend it with a fluffy brush, barely touching the face. Key application areas: cheekbones, temples and jawline.

Apply blush before foundation
Yes, yes, you heard right. This way to achieve the most natural effect: as if the blush comes from within. Cream or gel textures are best suited for this. According to makeup artist Tim Quinn, the use of dry blush in this case can lead to "irreparable disaster." We believe in the word!
Use the minimum amount of foundation
We already talked about this in step 3. Many women sin by applying too much tone – this is especially striking if the shade is chosen incorrectly. To avoid overdosing, apply foundation with a wet sponge or damp brush. "This will make the coverage look more natural," says Quinn. If you prefer to apply foundation exclusively with your hands, look for lightweight textures like fluid or foundation serum. Yes, they are liquid like water, but they allow you to achieve a natural coating in a few seconds without any lotions.

Fix your makeup
And the last step: fixing. In order for the foundation to sit better on the skin, spray thermal water and a moisturizing mist after makeup. If you plan to wear make-up for at least eight hours, apply powder first, and then spray fixative spray all over your face. The most advanced not only prolong the durability of cosmetics, but also smooth out pores.
