Maintaining the perfect shade, texture and length of dyed hair is an asterisk task. Here, the advice of a qualified expert and proven tools will definitely come in handy.
During dyeing, a special pigment is launched into the hair structure and “fixed" it inside the strands. This manipulation allows you to radically change the color of the hair and achieve an absolutely perfect result. But all this is for the time being. Over time, the color begins to mutate and the strands become either yellowish, or reddish, or gray. Blondes often come to the rescue purple shampoo. But even that does not always give the desired effect. What to do in such cases? And how to be colored girls, but not blonde? Expert Irina Popova believes that it is important to approach this case in a comprehensive manner.
Take care of the health of your hair
Experts agree that the health of the hair is directly related to the preservation of their shade. “The healthier the hair structure, the longer the pigment will be contained inside it, and vice versa, the more damaged and porous the hair, the faster the color will wash out. And the flexibility, elasticity and health of the hairline are directly related to how your hair follicle is nourished and how the cells will then produce building proteins (keratin),” Irina explains and emphasizes that the number one rule for those who dream of the perfect shade is the right lifestyle and balanced diet: "A complete diet is simply necessary, because this is the main contribution to the health of your hair and, as a result, a beautiful shade."
Find the right basic care
Immediately after staining, it is very important to choose the right home care. These are special soft shampoos, conditioners and balms that will not wash out the pigment, but rather "seal" it.
The expert advises looking for substances such as hydrolyzed proteins (keratin, soy, wheat, oats, peas, etc.), ceramides, elastin, collagen, and the like in the composition of the products. These are a kind of "reparants" that are "embedded" in damaged areas of the hair, restoring them. Thanks to this, the hair becomes more well-groomed and healthy.
Natural oils will also help to keep the color of dyed hair longer and their very structure. In their pure form, experts do not advise using them, but in masks made under the strict control of qualified specialists, they are even encouraged. Natural oils are a direct source of fatty acids, the same ones that are also a natural structural element of our hair – our lipids (there are a lot of them in the cuticle), so they will have a protective effect on the hair, on the cuticular, hydrophobic layers, the layer responsible for shine, strength and elasticity of our hair.
Reduce the water temperature in the shower
It's not just what you wash your hair with that matters, but how you do it. The expert claims: "Water temperatures above 40 degrees are detrimental to the structure of the hair and destructive to the coloring components – everyone!" So, the more hot water you wash your curls, the more likely it is that after a few weeks the shade will deteriorate. In addition, with prolonged contact with hot water, the scalp can become more vulnerable and respond to you with itching, burning, or even dandruff.
Enter additional funds into the hair routine
After staining, you will have to abandon beauty asceticism. In order to maintain an intense shade of hair for a longer time, it is worth starting to use indelible conditioner sprays, hair serums – this is not a whim of the manufacturer and his desire to take away your hard-earned funds. This desire to help you fix the result of staining for as long as possible.
In the arsenal of every manufacturer, you can now easily find such products, or again, ask your hairdresser.
Do not be afraid of silicones in the composition of care products. You will define them at the end of "cone / xane" or, for example, "polyquaternium". These are high-molecular films that will also protect the hair very well from washing out the color pigment, and also perfectly condition the hair. They are very necessary in products for colored hair. Such films work on the principle of "adhesion", that is, sticking. They stick to the structure of our hair and fix the color inside them, preventing it from washing out, plus some types of polyquats have a bunch of additional properties, such as, for example, an antistatic effect.
Reduce the temperature of your styling products
(hairdryers, curling irons, irons)
Thermal exposure destroys the hair structure. “The first peak of damage to hair proteins starts at 80-90 degrees. More is even worse, “Irina notes and advises if you use hair styling products, then to the "minimal salary", solely in order to give the hair the desired shape. So you increase the chances of keeping the shade of dyed hair longer. The editors also know that very often we are tormented by a choice: to style our hair with a hairdryer or “stroke” with a curling iron. If you approach this issue from the point of view of hair health, then you should definitely choose a hair dryer. We explain why. Firstly, because when working with a curling iron, the curls collide with hot plates directly, and not at a distance, as when working with a hair dryer, and thus the thermal effect on them is enhanced. Secondly, the curling iron plates themselves must be heated to a temperature of more than 100 degrees to work well, while most hair dryers have a cold mode. It is worse when they also heat up unevenly and glide poorly, burning the hair.
