If an insect gets into the ear, then the person experiences not only an unpleasant sensation, but also pain. This is due to the fact that the insect loses orientation in the ear, and not finding a way out, begins to beat against the eardrum.
What to do? How to get rid of an insect in your ear?
Let's list the symptoms that arise in a person if an insect has got into the ear:
- Sharp pain, unpleasant tickling inside the ear canal.
- Feeling of congestion, the occurrence of tinnitus.
- Severe dizziness, a feeling of nausea and the onset of a gag reflex are the main symptoms that are observed when the receptors of the vagus nerve in the ear canal are irritated.
- Skin necrosis occurs in isolated cases if the insect is capable of releasing irritating chemicals.
- The appearance of edema, in some cases, ear bleeding opens.
Now we remove the insect.
- The first thing to do is to immobilize the insect.
To do this, warm vegetable oil or, in extreme cases, water is instilled into the ear.
Pour liquid slowly using a syringe without a needle or a watering can with a narrow nozzle. A regular teapot is suitable for brewing tea.
Air access is blocked, the insect cannot breathe and becomes immobile.
- Then you need to tilt your head towards the affected ear. If the insect is small, then it will come out of the ear by itself along with the water.
You can try to remove a large insect with tweezers, only very carefully. After all, part of the insect remaining in the ear canal can provoke inflammation.
In addition to oil and water, you can use alcohol, vodka. Just remember to dilute with water. Not less than half. But boric alcohol can be dripped without diluting. There is another 25% – chloramphenicol alcohol, you can also use it.
Folk ways
- Tilt your head towards the affected ear, grasp the edge of the auricle with your fingers and shake it slightly. Often, the insect simply falls out if it has not yet managed to get deep into the ear canal.
- A banal, but not contrary to logic, way is to shine a flashlight in your ear. Many insects instinctively gravitate towards the light, and if it is still alive, it will be able to crawl out on its own.
- Provide the insect with the ability to exit the ear on its own if it has not gone deep. To do this, you should not make sudden movements, as well as bring your hand or any objects to your ear so as not to frighten him.
- Use ear candles, which can be purchased at any pharmacy. Such candles collect all sulfur deposits and can help solve the problem with midges;
5 .. Rinsing the ear with a pipette or syringe, while keeping the head in such a position that water flows out freely and flushes the insect. This method should not be used if there is a suspicion of damage to the tympanic membrane, as exposure to moisture can aggravate the situation. - Instillation of mineral oil in the ear. Usually just a few drops are enough to kill the insect. Such measures are most relevant if there is a threat of getting bites.
Tip: If you sleep outdoors, cover your ear canals with cotton swabs or ear plugs to prevent insects from entering your ear.
