In the modern world, more and more people are trying to abandon the standard layout, where there is a place for a tiny kitchen and a spacious living room. A more practical and aesthetic option is to combine the two spaces, i.e. in creating a thoughtful interior of the kitchen-living room.<\/p>\n

This decision has many positive aspects. Firstly, the room becomes larger in area, so the feeling of crushing walls disappears. Secondly, it becomes possible to create a common space where you can not only cook, but also spend time with family and friends in a comfortable environment.<\/p>\n

Tamara Kataeva, Domeo design specialist, tells how to properly develop the interior of the kitchen-living room:<\/p>\n

– I would like to note right away that the modern interior of the kitchen-living room is largely influenced by the historically established concept. Previously, the kitchen was always located separately: in the basement or on the ground floor, while the dining room and living room were on the second floor. Of course, now not everyone has such an opportunity to separate the premises, but it is possible and even necessary to divide the kitchen-living room areas depending on their purpose.<\/p>\n

Tips from a Domeo Design Specialist<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

There are several design ways to visually separate zones. According to Tamara Kataeva, one of the most popular trends is the use of floral decorations. We are talking about home flowers that can be installed on a decorative wall or a flower pot. If there is a desire to delimit zones as much as possible, then it is worth choosing ampelous and dense plants. If the separation will be nominal, then flowering plants with a sparse leafy part are perfect.<\/p>\n

The second option is to use different textures and colors for the walls. It can be wallpaper of different shades, including contrasting ones, decorative plaster, wood panels. The transition between colors and textures should be sharp and clear, so that it is clear where one zone ends and another begins.<\/p>\n

Slightly less popular is the separation using flooring. So, tiles will be appropriate in the kitchen area, and laminate or parquet in the dining room and living room.<\/p>\n

Sometimes there are recommendations to organize zoning with a podium, but Tamara Kataeva does not consider this option ergonomic:<\/p>\n

\u2013 In a hurry, you can always trip on a platform, which can cause injury. And for families with small children, the podium will not be the best design solution when creating the interior of the kitchen-living room.<\/p>\n

Design specialist Domeo is sure that the sofa should not be in the dining area. This piece of furniture is designed exclusively for the living room, i.e. for rest and relaxation. In addition, the sofa is noticeably inferior in height to the chairs, so it will be very uncomfortable to sit on it at the table. It is better to give preference to chairs that will provide comfort while eating.<\/p>\n
