Here are some tips to keep your lungs healthy.<\/p>\n<h3>During a pandemic (which, alas, has not yet been canceled), you must:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>stay at home when sick;<\/li>\n<li>avoid sick people;<\/li>\n<li>wash your hands often;\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>avoid crowds;<\/li>\n<li>physical distancing and wearing a mask;<\/li>\n<li>keep children at home if there is the slightest suspicion that they are sick;<\/li>\n<li>cough into a tissue or elbow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Chronic problems &#8211; treat!<\/h3>\n<p>People with lung disease, asthma, allergies and breathing problems can only protect themselves with the help of specialists. And be sure to see your doctor if symptoms change or worsen, medications cause side effects, or treatment strategies don't work.<\/p>\n<p>Allergy sufferers should not self-medicate or take medications that have helped a friend. Each of us is individual. So get tested and let the healthcare professionals prescribe treatments for your particular allergy. General recommendation: avoid allergens. By the way, home air filters can help reduce their impact.<\/p>\n<h3>Reduce indoor air pollution<\/h3>\n<p>Indoor air pollution can damage the lungs and aggravate asthma and allergies. Therefore it is worth:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Use the air filter and replace it every 60-90 days.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Check your home for mold if you can see it or smell it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Avoid chemicals with a strong odor in an unventilated area.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Wear a mask when working with harsh chemicals and even when painting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Do not allow people to smoke in the house.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Keep doors and windows closed when the air outside is very polluted.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Avoid outdoor air pollution. It can make breathing difficult and increase the risk of lung disease (including cancer).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Check the air quality index on the website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iqair.com\/ru\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"external external_icon\">https:\/\/www.iqair.com\/ru<\/a> and do not go out when the indicators are bad.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Use a home air conditioner's filtration system to remove contaminants from indoor air.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>And never exercise near busy roads (or during smog).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Do the exercises<\/h3>\n<p>Any kind of regular exercise is critical to the health of your lungs, heart, and entire body. Experts recommend physical activity for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. Even people with chronic lung disease can improve their health by exercising regularly. What do you need?<\/p>\n<p>At least 150 minutes a week &#8211; that is 23 minutes a day! &#8211; moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (for example, walking).<\/p>\n<p>If the exercises are more intense (running or jogging) &#8211; 75 minutes per week.<\/p>\n<p>Strength training (body weight or weightlifting) \u2013 at least 2 days per week.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, the numbers are more than real.<\/p>\n<p>The simplest exercises can strengthen the lungs.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Breathe in through your nose. Then exhale through pursed lips &#8211; try to exhale twice as long as you inhale.<\/li>\n<li>Practice belly breathing, in which the diaphragm draws air deep into the lungs. Inhale and let your belly expand, then exhale to let your belly contract.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Perform each exercise while breathing normally for 5-10 minutes a day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A healthy lifestyle that avoids allergens, cigarette smoke and other air pollutants can help keep your lungs healthy.<\/p>\n<p>And remember: the lungs are made of fat.
