But if you are looking at the “green" side a little (for example, taking coffee in your cup), then why not upgrade your makeup bag as well.

1 You buy a lot of funds in a small amount

Keeping several different shampoos in the bathroom is a healthy habit that even trichologists approve of. Having several face creams is also normal: day and night, winter and summer, the skin may have different needs. However, the more cosmetics we buy, the more packaging we leave behind – and we need to somehow get along with this.

Favorite funds that you buy from year to year, you can take immediately in large quantities. Let it be a 400 ml bottle of body lotion or a five-liter can of shower gel for the whole family. Getting more than usual from your heart can be difficult, but in the end, one large can will cost less than two small ones.

If you want to save shelf space, opt for 2-in-1 products (like a conditioning mask) and concentrated products in small bottles. Concentrated gels and shampoos contain less water, but they last for as many uses as products in a large package.

Give preference to products for which you can purchase refill – the same product, but in a simpler and lighter package. In stores you can find "reserves" for liquid soap, shampoo and cleansers. Replaceable blocks are also produced by some perfume brands.

2 You do not use the tool to the end

Sometimes it seems that cosmetics manufacturers deliberately create packaging from which it is difficult to get the remains of the product. After all, the sooner you finish the first vial, the sooner you will come for another.

We propose to challenge this system and use creams and masks to the last drop. To get the rest of the cream or paste from the tube, cut it with scissors or use a special squeezer.

You can try to hold a bottle with a cap or pump in hot water: this way the cream or lotion will more easily fall behind its walls. It is important not to overdo it here: the bottle must be removed from the water after one or two minutes, otherwise there is a risk of violating the stability of the formula and ruining the product.

3 You agree to packages that you can refuse

Source here and below: @officine_universelle_buly

Packaging and containers account for about 30% of all solid waste. Some of these containers cannot be recycled or reused and end up in landfills. We are not advocating to act radically and refuse cosmetics, but we suggest minimizing waste when possible. At a minimum – do not take a package at the checkout, as a maximum – choose zero-waste packages.

Cosmetics without extra packaging are also offered by some cosmetic stores: solid shampoos and conditioners can be bought without a box, and stored in a reusable container.

4 You make unplanned purchases

84% of shoppers have made an impulsive purchase at least once, and we understand why. Ignoring the little things that stores deliberately place at the checkout is really hard: sheet masks and wet wipes suddenly seem like essentials. Advertising on the Internet also encourages thoughtless shopping. 57% of millennials say they may unintentionally buy products they've seen on social media.

To keep yourself from unnecessary beauty purchases, we advise you to unsubscribe from e-mail newsletters about discounts and make a shopping list before each visit to the store. And do not scroll Instagram at least before going to bed, so that there is no temptation to order too much.

5 You love disposable masks and patches

World publications have long been writing about the dangers of disposable masks. Individual packaging made of plastic and aluminum, a protective layer of plastic film, a synthetic base – these products are difficult to make sustainable.

In contrast to conventional masks, biodegradable ones come, however, not everything is so simple with them. The base of the mask can be made from organic cotton, bamboo or biocellulose, but at the same time soaked in a serum with ingredients that will not allow it to decompose normally. The classic cream and gel masks remain the most reliable alternative to sheet masks. Ideally, in containers that can be reused or recycled.

It is better to buy patches under the eyes not in separate envelopes, but in large jars. The stickers themselves will not become more eco-friendly from this, but there will be somewhat less waste. Another compromise option is patches that can be used up to three times, or multiple silicone stickers without a solution, used to care for the neck and décolleté.

6 You use a lot of cotton pads and sticks

The cotton from which cotton pads are made is a renewable resource. But due to the use of pesticides and the use of large volumes of water, cotton cultivation cannot be called environmentally friendly. In addition, cotton products that undergo chemical treatments (such as bleaching and softening) may contaminate the soil during decomposition.

Finding an alternative to cotton pads is not so difficult. You can buy discs made of organic cotton (although these are more expensive) or switch to reusable ones. Muslin wipes and reusable discs are also cotton-based, but these accessories can be washed and reused. By the way, sometimes it's easy to do without discs: the tonic can be poured into spray bottles and cut directly on the face, and micellar water can be replaced with a hydrophilic make-up remover balm.

Giving up cotton swabs is a little more difficult, but eco-friendly alternatives come to the rescue. A reusable stick with a rubber-like tip will take some getting used to (you have to wash it with soap and water after each use), while bamboo ones, made from organic cotton instead of ordinary ones, are no different from standard ones.

7 You buy makeup products and perfumes without testing

Mascara, which you have not changed since your student years, does not require additional tests, which cannot be said about new decorative cosmetics. Bypassing the testing phase, you run the risk of purchasing a foundation that is too dark or a lipstick that does not suit you. The fate of such funds is usually sad: at best, you will give the foundation to a friend, at worst, you will suffer with it several times and throw it away.

No matter how tempting online shopping may seem, most unsuccessful beauty sales happen online. Even a virtual fitting, which is offered on the websites of some brands, cannot replace a real acquaintance with the new product. If you have the opportunity to test the product in the store or order a sampler online, use it. "Field research" will help to avoid inaccuracies in the selection, and hence unnecessary purchases.

8 You throw away packaging that can be reused

Let's be honest: beautiful design is a significant factor in choosing cosmetics. Why not give beautiful packaging a second life? For example, glasses from perfumed candles are perfect as holders for makeup brushes. Glass bottles from cleansers can be used as vases, and boxes from gift sets can be used to store various little things.

9 You don't recycle cosmetic containers

We have already mentioned that some of the packaging will end up in a landfill anyway. But some tubes and jars can be recycled or incinerated immediately after use.

Glass containers, cardboard can be handed over to different collection points. Some brands accept product packaging in their stores.

Post source: salon.kr.ua

We suggest starting small: give up two or three habits from this list and find an alternative that is friendly to nature and comfortable for you.

[480

post-475866","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-form
["GET
