Other tasks of self-development are distributed in other 8 areas.

Let's remember the main 9 areas of life – these will be the main directions for self-development:

Personal growth and spiritual development

Self-realization, career growth

Health (nutrition, sports, beauty, personal care)

Love, relationships.

Home and family (children, relatives)

Communication / Environment / Friends

Finance and material well-being

Leisure / Leisure / Travel

Hobbies and hobbies

That is, personal growth is one of the eight directions for self-development, but not its synonym.

Let me make a few clarifications by area. You've probably noticed that “Love and Relationships” and “Family” are 2 different areas in my scheme. This, of course, does not mean that you need to start relationships on the side of the family)) But this is a call to pay special attention to the husband and the relationship with him – to allocate time only for two, to leave the traditional roles of “mom” and “dad” and be just a man and a woman who is genuinely interested in each other, going on dates and interesting events. I have already written special articles on the blog and continue to develop this topic – for example, how to return romance to marriage, why go on a date with my husband, etc.)

How to make a personal self-development plan: step by step instructions

In order to start self-development, you first need to answer yourself a number of questions:

In what direction do I want to develop?

What do I want?

What am I dreaming about?

And then I will give you a clear step-by-step work plan with answers to these main questions – the determinants of your development in the future. So:

Step 1 – Prescribe Your Personal Dream Life Formula

I propose to group dreams into specific areas that we have outlined above.

Why am I suggesting 9 areas? It is this set of spheres and their uniform filling that is the key to a happy, successful life. Remove one of these areas and life will be incomplete. Many women make the mistake of betting on one or two areas and neglecting the rest – life must be balanced and fulfilled in all areas.

Judge for yourself, will a housewife be completely happy, who put an end to her abilities and talents, which are hiding inside and rushing out?

Will a desperate careerist who works a lot, travels on business trips, but returns to an empty cold apartment in the evenings and does not know simple human warmth, sincere hugs, the joy of motherhood? …

Of course, every woman has her own path, her choice, priorities and values. But personally, I was in that and in that role, so I can say for sure that I found happiness when I learned to combine career and love, self-realization and family and all other areas.

Each sphere is a vital support and the basis for personal stability. If 1 sphere fails, the person is supported by all the others and he can withstand difficult periods.

At the same time, it should be recognized that it is impossible to develop all 9 spheres evenly and devote the same amount of time to them. And is it necessary? For example, for the spheres of “hobbies”, “friends”, it is enough to allocate 1-2 hours a week, in contrast to the sphere of “Family”, which requires a lot of our attention every day (especially when children appear), you need to devote time every day. The sphere of “health” – although a priority, does not require daily visits to the doctor, if everything is in order with health – it is important to undergo some routine examinations once a year / six months, get rid of bad habits and, ideally, introduce useful ones. How much time is needed for this? Not much, but you need to highlight it – and prescribe specifically what you will do for the “Health (nutrition, sports, beauty, personal care))

In any case, you need to prioritize life areas of importance for you – and then it will become clear what to pay attention to in the first place, what should not be forgotten and supported as important to you. Otherwise, very often it turns out that we lose sight of some very important things – the same health, family relationships, communication with friends, and then this sphere fails and destroys life …

I have a special planner in which you can prioritize life spheres – a planner to determine the formula for a Dream Life. But its main function is to write down your dreams in spheres: this way you create a picture of the life that you want to create, which you dream about and which you are going).

At the same stage, you can connect visualization: create a “Wish Map” – a collage with beautiful pictures that you want to see in your future life, put an appropriate screensaver on your phone or computer screen – a picture from your dreams. It works, personally tested.

Use also affirmations – positive statements, the repetition of which helps to tune in to the right wave, create a positive attitude. Just please don't repeat someone else's affirmations taken from the internet. Your personal affirmations — tailored to your goals — will work best for you. How to write personal affirmations I wrote in this article How to write effective affirmations

How to write effective affirmations

When the Dream Life Formula planner is complete, consider that your plan for self-development is almost ready.

It remains to add specifics and prescribe an action plan.

We pass to the next stage – planning. Only with a clear plan will you understand what to do and how to act on the way to your dreams, desires and goals.

Step 2. We draw up a plan of self-development for the year

If the Dream Life Formula planner is full, then you have a clear idea of what you want.

Now we are drawing up a Self-Development Plan for the year – we set specific goals for the areas for the year in accordance with our dreams.

Print out the planner – write your dream goals in the appropriate columns. What is important in this planner is to write down specific steps and set deadlines in special columns.

For example, my goal for a year is to start traveling. What specific steps can I take along the way? Obtain a passport, write a list of countries that I want to visit, subscribe to low-cost public pages, monitor housing prices, for example (I wrote in detail about how to plan a trip in a separate article). Also, setting a goal to “start traveling” will open me up to all opportunities to travel – I will strive to get on a business trip, an international school or a conference.

Setting a goal in a different area makes us see the possibility of realizing it, and not look for excuses “why this is impossible”.

I have written a lot about setting goals for the year, now I will focus on the most important points.

So, here are the important rules when setting goals for the year :

1 K Each goal must be achievable, specific and have clear deadlines – for this purpose, there are corresponding columns in my planner for the year, where you need to write down your goals for specific steps and set deadlines for their implementation. This is the foundation in goal setting and without it – nowhere.

Everyone has their own threshold of “real and achievable”, of course, and this inner ceiling of ours rests on beliefs and attitudes – of course, we also need to work with this, but that's another story.

2 Do not spray! Don't set too many goals in each area – 1-2, a maximum of 3 goals for each area will be enough. I confess that I have such a sin – I want to be in time as much as possible: I set a lot of goals, and then I chase them all year. Yes, you can live like that – but not for long)) A year, two, maximum three. Then comes exhaustion, apathy and personal crises. So fewer goals are better, slower growth – but better quality, for pleasure, with sense and arrangement.

In fact, my most successful plan contained one specific goal in each area – that is, 9 goals for the year.

9 achieved annual goals in each area – this is a revolution in life.

3 Set goals in a good mood and with confidence that everything will work out. You need to work on your goals in an optimal state – when you are rested, full of energy and in a good mood – this is true, important! Somehow I disregarded this rule and set goals for being tired in the state of “squeezed lemon” – and the goals turned out to be the same: pulled out of myself by ticks, not particularly inspiring and not motivating … Therefore, it is better to take time out for yourself in a calm atmosphere, pour a cup of tea / coffee and calmly plunge into the design of your future for an hour or two.

4 Internal readiness for goals. When you set goals, it is important to feel that you have the strength and energy to achieve them, that you are ready to open the doors and let changes in your life! Many set goals for themselves – and at the same time, they seem to doubt that it is possible for them, is real and even afraid of change, they are not completely sure that they need it … So the task is to set exactly such “necessary goals” – if you are 100% confident % that you need it, you deserve it.

5 Build your confidence and allow yourself to have what you really dream of. Ask yourself the question “What do I deserve ?!”

This question at one time brought me a lot of discoveries and gave me the courage to set goals and dreams, from which my knees were trembling. But I knew for sure that I deserved it – and even thought

“Why I still don't have it ?! It should already be – it's so obvious that I deserve it! “))

Such a wild confidence that you will have everything you deserve works wonders !!! All my goals were achieved then – with what, in the easiest way))

I wrote in more detail about setting goals for the year here:

How to take stock of the year and set goals for the next

Goals for the year set: what's next?

Further, after drawing up the plan, it is advisable to break down the goals for the year by quarters and months – this will help plan the year by seasons. And it's absolutely imperative that you plan every month.

Step 3. Break down the goals for the year by specific steps

When you have a clear step-by-step plan for self – development ready, we break down the annual goals by quarter and month.

Next to each goal, write down when you are going to work on it. It is impossible to run towards all annual goals at the same time – but it is possible to move gradually and in turn towards each one: after all, there are as many as 12 months in a year.

The task of this stage of working with goals is to distribute goals by seasons and outline for yourself which goals are better to work out in summer, which ones – in winter, autumn, spring.

And every month we draw up a plan for self-development for a month. In my blog I publish a monthly panner – with a calendar, tables “Personal balance, List to do, Wish List (the current planner for this month – see the main page of the site)

I guarantee that if you make a plan every month according to such a scheme and adhere to it, you will achieve great results, maintaining a balance in all areas of life.

It is also important to make a plan for the week and for the day in order to keep focus on your goals and approach them methodically (especially if you have a lot of work tasks and you have a need to balance between work and family (!).

The key message of my story is that you need to change yourself, and not try to influence the circumstances and those around you.

It was only the internal changes and the elaboration of limiting beliefs and behaviors that the much-desired changes followed.

There is everything in the world for everyone. But are we ready to accept it?

Self-development stages

Self-knowledge. Back in the IV century BC, seven ancient sages formulated and inscribed on the temple of the god Apollo in Delphi the absolute and universal truth: “Know thyself.” A thinking person must clearly understand his life priorities, ideals, qualities that will allow him to move “forward and upward”. Only by giving an answer to the question: “Who am I in this world?”, One can try to look for landmarks and direction of movement.

Goal setting. The goals can be long-term or short-term, but in any case they should be flexible and should not contradict each other. In addition, the result of goal-setting should be a specific result and a process – systematic exercises. In itself, the problem of setting life goals in the aspect of self-development is a very important and capacious topic that we will discuss in one of the following publications.

Ways to achieve the assigned tasks. Self-development is a very individual process. Therefore, there simply cannot be universal advice on achieving the heights of personal growth. The answer to the question about the way to improve oneself (physical, mental or spiritual) can be searched for a long time in smart books, or you can get, as they say, “just from heaven”. The story of the American businessman and gambler MC Davis comes to mind. Accidentally, due to a traffic jam, having got to a children's lecture on the destruction of wildlife, he suddenly found the meaning of his life. For twenty years, the businessman-philanthropist has invested in the Nokuse project, designed for three hundred years, ninety million dollars. As a result, eight million swamp pine seedlings were planted on the lands purchased from wood processing companies.

Act. My favorite expression: “The road will be mastered by the one walking.” After all, only having begun to act, having made at least one step towards the dream, one can hope to achieve a result.

The self-development program includes various areas, including character improvement, the formation of volitional qualities, the development of intelligence, spirituality, and physical fitness. In general, self-development is both a powerful factor in business success and success in the personal sphere of a person's life.

Self-development methods

Choose priorities. To go to the top without stopping or wandering, a person needs to clearly understand the direction of movement. Stephen Covey, a well-known coach and business consultant, drew attention to the fact that most people today choose the watch as the main metaphor of their lives, while they should be guided, first of all, by the compass. The main task of an individual is to find his true path. The focus should not be on speed, plans and schedules, but on priorities.

Awareness of the fullness of life. Often in the stream of life, a person perceives the world either as a gray viscous substance, or in the form of a motley chaotic kaleidoscope. To perceive the fullness of the moment, the harmony of the world and its versatility, it is worth applying the principle of “being here and now”. At any moment you can give yourself the command: “Stop. Realize. Feel. “

Concentration of attention. The Indians have a story that the human brain is a little monkey. She constantly climbs somewhere, itches, examines something, chews, but she can be tamed. The same must be done with consciousness. When the mind jumps from thought to thought, from idea to idea, tell it, “Come back! Look here!” By the way, I want to assure you that this technique works flawlessly. I tested it on myself and came to the conclusion that with the help of self-control, you can fully focus on the task, discarding everything else. So I accumulate consciousness and the efficiency in the process becomes several times higher.

Write down your thoughts. To form and strengthen any intention, I advise you to record all ingenious and not so great thoughts that pop up in your mind about a particular problem. Use a notebook, organizer or voice recorder for this. Having given the installation to your subconscious mind to generate ideas in a given direction, you will soon receive a lot of tips and understand what and how to do next. Also, when debriefing thoughts, pay attention to repetitive tasks. It is noticed that a task postponed three times is not worth the effort spent on its solution.

Time. Take good care of such a valuable resource as time. Use time management techniques. It is worth learning arbitrary forgetfulness, since some of the problems are solved by themselves, and work on the ability to track and block the “time eaters”: empty conversations, communication in networks, absorption and reaction to unnecessary information.

Environment. Communication with people who can teach you something, inspire you, lead you. At the same time, I advise you to limit interaction with those who drag you down, load you with whining and complaints.

Movement towards the goal. Having mastered the art of small steps, you will rigorously move towards your goal. The slightest movement in the delineated direction is already the result.

Multi-vector. Ability to achieve several results in one unit of time. For example, standing on a treadmill, you can stick headphones with acidic music in your ears, or you can listen to an audiobook or repeat words of a foreign language. Which option is more effective? Undoubtedly the second! But here you cannot get carried away, if the task is serious, it is better to fully concentrate on it.

Stress. Tim Ferris, author of How to Work 4 Hours a Week, advises learning how to use stress. Sounds paradoxical. Is not it? But it is a certain level of stress that creates sufficient motivation in you. It turns out that there is so-called “good” stress – emotional outbursts (not always with a plus sign) that force you to leave your comfort zone.

2 powerful techniques

And finally, I would like to make you, dear readers of my blog, a small gift. Two great exercises that help restore inner harmony and motivate yourself to actively move to the top.

A wonderful technique with which you can improve your life in an amazing way is described in the book “Peace at every step” by the Vietnamese spiritual leader and Zen master Tit Nat Khan. The author proposes to reconsider the attitude to reality. “We often ask ourselves the question: What is wrong? And a negative field is immediately formed around. What if we could learn to ask life: “What is so?” At the same time, to experience the sensations that the response forms for a longer time. “

Power Hour, a technique developed by Anthony Robbins. At the heart of three pillars: planning the day (ten to fifteen minutes), focusing on goals and meaningful articulation of attitudes. Let's talk about attitudes, or they are also called affirmations. They are the ones who program the consciousness in a certain way. This is a very powerful tool that amazingly replenishes energy resources and works like a magnet that attracts resources, people and events. Here are some similar attitudes (affirmations):

I feel strength, determination, happiness in myself;

I am confident in my potential;

I live every day energetically and passionately;

everything that I start, I bring to perfection;

I am calm and confident in myself;

I am grateful for every day I have lived;

I am generous and gladly share my abundance.

How to write a plan for self-improvement

How to change your life for the better and where to get started

If a person does not know how to start self-development and self-improvement, it is necessary to draw up a clear action plan. Without an exact sequence, a beginner runs the risk of giving up in a week without calculating the load.

Women's Day is hard to plan and to set aside time for reading literature or attending courses. Self-development plan for a woman, where to start:

Make a list of important things to do for the week. Every evening you need to plan your day;

Morning should start with a good mood, for this you need to sleep;

The girl must determine the direction of development: family, relationships, career. Each week you can alternate the direction, devote more time to one thing;

Find a problem: a problem in a relationship, stagnation at work, complexes. Then decide for yourself what you want to get in the end;

Set a minimum goal. For example, the goal is “to spend the weekend with your loved one and not fight” or “do more work this week than last week”;

At the end of each week, you need to take stock, praise yourself for your successes, and analyze your mistakes. Set new goals every week.

How to start self-development for a man, step by step plan:

Decide on your desires. You need to ask yourself the questions “What do I want to get?” or “Why do I need self-development?”;

To clarify your desires, you cannot formulate them with the phrases “I want everything to be good at work” or “I want a lot of money”. Instead, you can say “I need to learn how to negotiate” or “I need to get promoted”;

Make a list of what needs to be done to achieve what you want. For example, the item “Learn negotiation strategies, read an article or watch a video on this topic” or “I need to learn how to work in this computer program”;

Make a schedule for the week, which will include an item to achieve the goal;

At the end of the week, analyze what you have done and write down your result.

Note! An action plan, or instruction, is an indispensable component at the beginning of the path to development. Without understanding their actions, a person runs the risk of getting confused and stopping. Remembering your goal and looking for ways to achieve it is what you need to do every day for personal self-development.

How not to start personal development

Occupational stress – what causes it and how to deal with it

Fired up with an idea and desire, a person grasps at everything at once, without understanding what self-improvement is. Most people make the same mistakes:

Reading indiscriminately. Many people think that the main thing is to read as much as possible. Low-quality and meaningless information clogs the brain. You need to study books that can be useful in work and relationships;

Lack of discipline and commitment. If a person decides to engage in development, because “it is necessary”, soon the motivation will run out. The decision to improve yourself must be conscious;

Full time job. Contrary to the popular message “Never stop!” Sometimes it is necessary to rest and meditate;

Actions at random. When there is no goal in the head for the sake of which the path begins, all actions will be unreasonable. A person should understand what he wants: improve his personal qualities, become a specialist in his field, or simply lose weight and be healthy;

Unattainable goals. You can't go to extremes and demand too much of yourself. You need to start with the minimum requirements for yourself, which will gradually increase;

Fear of failure. A person may not even try to do something for fear of possible difficulties;

Wrong direction. There are situations when a person is trying to succeed in a business that he does not like. For example, a teenager is educated in a field that the parents have chosen.

Note! Despite the fact that everywhere they say that you need to look for your destiny, not everyone has the opportunity to quit an unloved job. A person can be stopped by financial difficulties, uncertainty and fear of being left with nothing. Your favorite activity can be turned into a hobby by allocating 15-20 minutes for it every day.

What Helps You Not to Quit Cultivation

If a person does not know how to self-develop, it is necessary to start with minimal actions. As you achieve your goals, you can increase the requirements for further growth. How to help yourself become better:

Record your results. A person can be overly critical, forgetting to praise himself. You need to regularly record your progress so that you can see progress in a year;

Find a mentor and teacher. It should be a person who inspires, from whom you can learn from. You can read the success stories of famous people to understand their life principles;

Be disciplined. Motivation is a good but fickle thing. Sometimes it is necessary to do what is difficult, even if there is no desire;

Decide on a goal – it can be buying a car, a promotion or a good relationship in the family;

Listen to friends' advice on self-development, perhaps someone has already encountered similar difficulties and will share their experience.

Is it too late to start after 30 years

The desire to self-develop and change something in life can arise at any age, this is normal. At the age of 30-35, a person experiences a fracture of consciousness, he begins to analyze his life and what he has achieved. Life is a constant physical and mental movement, if a person stands still, he degrades. At 30 and at 40, you need to improve yourself.

Self-development, where to start after 30 years:

Health. If before that a person went on about bad habits, now you need to pay attention to your body. It is necessary to give up alcohol, cigarettes and junk food in order to take care of yourself in the future;

Sports activities. It may seem that sports and nutrition are not related to mental development, in fact, physical activity improves brain function;

Revise your social circle. Some peers stop growing at the age of 30 and hinder those who want to develop. It is not necessary to stop communicating with your best friends, you need to stop justifying your inaction by the fact that “they also do nothing”;

Review your activities. Is it fun or just money? If you don't like work, a person will live in constant tension, and you can forget about personal growth;

Don't be afraid to take risks. After 30 years, you can change a lot in your life: change jobs, move to another city. If there is such an opportunity, you should not miss it;

Focus on what comes out. If you have a job that brings pleasure, you need to develop in this area. You should not waste your energy on different activities, do everything at once, it is better to be an expert in one business.

How to do self-development

How to do self-development and where to start? As mentioned above, self-development can be at three levels: bodily, mental and spiritual. And if one of these aspects is a priority, and the other two are, as it were, by the way, then such self-development cannot be called harmonious. And one of the main aspects of self-development is motivation. Why does a person strive to become better? To impress others? To please someone? To improve your quality of life? To become more efficient in your studies, work, sports, family life? If a person's motivation is purely selfish, such development will also not be harmonious. Because the world is so arranged that everything in it is interconnected, and one person cannot become happy when everyone around him – friends, relatives, colleagues, neighbors – is deeply unhappy. And one more sign of the right path to development is when the reality around a person begins to change for the better. If a person notices that his self-development is gradually changing the lives of those around him for the better, then he is going the right way. Therefore, before thinking about how to engage in self-development, you must first decide what you need it for.

If motivation has already been found and it inspires you, you should start with the simplest thing – start changing your lifestyle to a healthier one. Pay attention to your diet, daily routine, see what you spend time on. Try to create some kind of daily routine so that every minute of it is devoted to something that benefits you and those around you. If you consciously approach this question, you will be able to notice that during the day you may have a lot of “parasite” cases that simply “eat up” your time. It can be anything: TV, computer games, “freezing” in social networks, or just aimless wandering on the Internet – a very, I must say, a common problem in our time. Ever notice how quickly a day off flies by? And often this happens exactly at the computer: it was just morning,

Therefore, the first thing to do is to draw up at least some kind of daily routine, or at least exclude the most time-consuming actions that do not bring objective benefits, but are performed rather out of habit. You will be surprised how much free time you will have when you approach each of your actions consciously, honestly wondering what the real benefit is in this action. It will also be helpful to go to bed early and get up earlier. The hormones necessary for a full life are produced from 10 pm to 5 am. And it is desirable to sleep at this particular time. The time before midnight is especially important: there is an opinion that it is at this time that the physical and mental forces of the body are restored, and if this time a person is awake, the body and psyche are exposed to exhaustion.

Next, you should pay attention to nutrition. And this has to do not only with the bodily level: it has long been noticed that the food we consume has a strong effect on consciousness. And if the diet contains harmful, artificial, refined food, as well as food that is the result of violence against animals – meat, fish, eggs, seafood, and so on – this will have an extremely negative effect on our consciousness. The fact is that in the human body everything is interconnected, and what enters our stomach and intestines is carried by the blood throughout the body and also enters the brain. Could a brain poisoned by some refined food chemicals or the hormones and antibiotics found in meat-based foods work smoothly and efficiently? Rhetorical question

What to study for self-development

So, everything is clear with the initial stage of self-development. It is necessary to adjust the daily routine and nutrition. And even this alone will make you happier and healthier. But this is just the beginning. How to directly engage in self-development? To do this, we need information that at the initial stage will tell us the right path. As mentioned above, self-development is a very fashionable trend in our society, therefore, a lot of books on how to become happy and successful have already been written, and even more will be written in the future. How much can you trust all of them? Let's try to figure it out.

If you observe our society, you can come to the conclusion that the motivations of people in it are most often purely selfish. Therefore, any kind of self-development also most often pursues selfish goals – to become healthier, richer, more successful, and, as a rule, at any cost. Therefore, modern books about self-development are mostly written according to the principle “demand creates supply”. If people are much more interested in how to become richer and more successful, how to make a career, and so on, then this is what the majority of literature will be oriented towards. There are, of course, decent books, but, as they say, a spoonful of honey in a barrel of ointment.

What to do? No one is calling for a complete refusal to read books. There is a simple principle: the text from which we want to draw some information should be time-tested. And, based on this theory, you need to read the most ancient writings, because if the text has already survived several centuries, or even millennia, it is probably not just some kind of pseudo-philosophical writings. From this point of view, the most relevant will be the Vedic scriptures or any scriptures of world religions. However, if these are some relatively young texts, then there are also many questions to them. The most interesting in terms of knowing yourself and the world around you will be such texts as “Mahabharata”, “Ramayana”, “Bhagavad-gita” (part of the Mahabharata).

Buddhist scriptures can also be interesting. For example, the Wonderful Dharma Lotus Flower Sutra, which is considered the quintessence of the Buddha's Teachings. And Buddha himself said that this sutra is “the first among all sutras.” A very inspiring philosophical text is The Way of the Bodhisattva, written by the philosopher-monk Shantideva. At the initial stage, such complex texts can seem difficult to understand. Then you can start with something simpler. For example, many works by Paulo Coelho make you think about life, about its values, about the search for purpose, and so on. The same can be said about the works of many Russian writers from the time of tsarist Russia. Therefore, the choice is incredibly large, and everyone can find what will receive a response in his heart.

How to learn self-development

How to engage in self-development and not “cool down” in a couple of weeks, as is often the case? This is due to poor motivation. First, a person “lights up”, and then more and more often he is overcome by doubts: “Why is this necessary, everything is so good, why these efforts?” etc. Therefore, motivation is important. At the initial stage, motivation can be very simple: to improve health, financial situation, relationships with others, and so on. But the fact is that if you have chosen an adequate path of development, then you will achieve these goals very quickly. If you just correct your diet, replacing it with a healthier one, adjust the daily routine and begin to behave more consciously, then, as a rule, problems with health, finances and people around you are mostly quickly resolved. And then, oddly enough, a difficult period arises – what to do next? Suffering has stopped – there is no motivation to move on. And here a person has two paths: he either stops developing (and as you know, if there is no evolution, degradation sets in), or generates a new motivation in his heart – he has a desire to help others on the basis of the experience that he has acquired himself.

When a person embarks on the path of self-development and reaches the level where most of his own suffering has ceased, this means that he can effectively help others. And at this stage there is often a period of fanaticism, when a person seeks to “catch up with everyone and do good to everyone.” In principle, this is, one might say, a certain stage of development. Then a person realizes that not everyone needs help and many are happy in all their problems and sufferings and simply do not want to change anything. Therefore, one should not fanatically impose the path of self-development on everyone. But if you see that a person is suffering and is ready to change something, then based on your experience, you can help him. And motivation to help others – this will also be a new level of development for yourself, which will allow you to move on – to new horizons. Generally,

search for potential for self-development

Where to start self-development – with the disclosure of their own potential. If this does not happen, development is doomed. A person succumbs to the smooth flow of life, acts in the direction of least resistance, in the end he has to be content with little. He resigns himself to the fact that he has achieved practically nothing and does not know how to engage in self-development further, and for what. At the same time, he sees that someone nearby has achieved more, and does not understand why he did not succeed.

Without discovering the potential, a person leaves the problems, instead of finding the strength to solve them. There are thousands of examples when a child shows great promise, is gifted with high intelligence. But in reality, he does not do well at school, mixes with the gray mass and becomes an ordinary person. This is due to the following factors:

The costs of education: spoiledness, indulgence, laziness, bad habits.

Mistakes of teachers who failed to consider the potential in the child.

Character traits: lack of will, lack of self-discipline, frivolity.

Low self-esteem.

Fear of difficulties.

Unrecognized talent.

It is said very accurately in a well-known expression: what you fear is your highest potential.

According to statistics, there are about 420 million talented people in the world, but this is far from an accurate figure, because those who “buried their talent in the ground” were not included here.

The reluctance to be persistent in achieving the goal, to overcome fears, the inability to use the available resource leads to the impossibility of developing as a person.

rejection of stereotypes as a condition for self-improvement

Self-improvement is not a comfortable pastime. This is within the power of courageous and freedom-loving individuals. It is impossible to develop without risk, without spending energy, giving up the usual way of life. The beginning of self-development is a transition to a completely different state, comprehension of the new, unknown. If a person experiences fear of the unknown, if he likes the usual “comfort zone”, when he is not able to develop a real plan for self-development, it is unlikely that his life will change for the better.

Established habits and stereotypes are a scourge that stands in the way of self-improvement. If a person gravitates towards an easy life, is not ready for trials, is exposed to a pathological perverted concept of apparent stability, he is doomed to personality degradation.

A weakling is not capable of an adequate perception of reality, he is satisfied with the habitual vegetation at the level of a primitive man in the street. When he tries to make weak attempts to change something, if he gets bored with the monotonous existence, he will surely fall on the hook of charlatan teachers. Such people easily succumb to the influence of questionable teachings, second-rate art, low-quality literature.

If a person is completely subject to stereotypes, driven by the desire to satisfy instinctive needs, he becomes a victim of deception, taking false teachings for serious science. False trainers do not demand responsibility from such a student, and they themselves neglect it.

If you choose not the best methods for self-development, the result is obvious – a temporary state of enlightenment, which quickly disappears and everything returns to normal. Conclusion: nothing changes in life, which means that there is no question of any development.

take responsibility for yourself

A conscientious person will never allow himself to be controlled by someone like a pseudo teacher. He is able to recognize where lies lie. A sense of responsibility is a prerequisite for achieving the goal of improvement. There are effective forms of work on your own “I”:

Commitment to a healthy lifestyle, exercise, rejection of bad habits.

Correct identification of the causes of problems.

Contacting a psychologist if the problem is at an impasse.

Use of quality literature.

Introspection of your own actions and thoughts.

Striving to be competent, highly professional in a specific field.

Application of knowledge in practice.

work on yourself – unlearning to lie

Most of the problems that prevent us from improving our quality of life are self-deception. Sometimes we don't even notice that it's time for ourselves. This happens when a person breaks down under the weight of life's difficulties and takes wishful thinking. Psychologists offer two options for weaning yourself from lying to yourself.

The first is the “mirror” method, for this it is necessary that there is a person nearby who will help open your eyes to the true truth. He must have an appropriate arsenal of knowledge, a strong character, a firm stand and the courage to tell the truth, even if it is unpleasant. The main thing is to be ready to hear it. It is important to understand that self-development is, first of all, a frank attitude towards oneself, a readiness for difficult work to create one's own renewed image.

The second way is to learn to tell the truth to yourself. If a person is used to lying, sooner or later this will lead to neuroses. They appear in the physical body in the form of clamps. There are several methods to get rid of this unkempt phenomenon. It can be a Raykhian massage, it has a good effect. There is getting rid of not only clamps by means of a point effect. Together with this, a person is freed from the habit of lying.

inclusion of the self-improvement process

If you have motivation based on interest, desire and resources (theoretical knowledge and practical experience), you can think about the start of self-development. To do this, it is necessary to develop a plan for achieving the goal, defining the main guidelines and criteria:

Fulfillment of your destiny as a rational being.

The goal is not short-term, but long-term.

Improve yourself and the world around you.

The basis is positive, the goal should be worthy and useful for yourself and others.

Striving for such a goal brings pleasure and an unquenchable desire to achieve it.

To start the process of self-development, you must say goodbye to the unnecessary. Having freed from the “chaff”, “grains” will remain, and they need to be cultivated. There will be an opportunity to reveal the character traits that were in the depths of the being, to let loose the abilities and talents. The beginning of self-development starts. A person gets a second wind, he begins to realize that working on the disclosure of his own potential is not exhausting at all. Having spent energy on the realization of a worthy goal, there is a feeling of the return of strength and health in a doubled volume. The realization that you had to work in the name of a good goal brings positive emotions that inspire subsequent actions.

What is IQ

In 1912, the German psychologist Wilhelm Stern introduced the concept of “intelligence quotient” – IQ. It is determined using various tests with tasks of increasing complexity. The mean is 100. A value of 70 qualifies as mental retardation.

Intelligence does not mean the amount of knowledge accumulated by a person, but his ability to memorize and analyze new information, as well as be able to use it to solve subsequent problems.

American Andrea Kuszewski is a consultant physician and behavioral therapy specialist. She works with children with autism who have cognitive impairments. One of her first patients was a boy with mental retardation: his IQ was indicative of minor mental retardation. After three years of teaching reading, mathematics, playing skills, communication according to the method she developed, his IQ was 100. The same success in the development of intelligence was observed in other children with cognitive disorders with whom the classes were conducted.

Consequently, if children with learning disabilities can develop rapidly, then the average person who does not have such problems, as they say, has cards in hand.

Andrea Kuszewski made the following conclusions:

intelligence is trainable;

the more you train him, the better the result will be;

to develop intelligence within the power of everyone, regardless of the level of his initial abilities.

We are looking for innovations

All geniuses are usually erudites – people with great knowledge in many areas of life. For example, Leonardo da Vinci was not only a talented artist, but also a writer, musician, scientist and inventor.

People who seek to develop their intelligence should be open to everything new: knowledge, activities, events. After all, each new activity contributes to the formation of new connections – synapses that connect one neuron with the rest and through which they exchange impulses.

The production of dopamine, a neurotransmitter hormone that stimulates the formation of new neurons and promotes increased motivation, also directly depends on the innovations that trigger this process.

Anyone who wants to have a high IQ should not think that after graduating from a university, you can forget about studies forever, because this is a direct path to degradation. Therefore, we do not stop looking for new food for our mind: we study new sciences, new languages, sign up for courses – for example, painting, guitar playing, Latin American dances, we are engaged in a new sport, we go on a journey for new experiences.

The value for the development of thinking abilities is not so much the knowledge itself, but the learning process itself.

Challenging ourselves

Much has been said about the benefits of educational games for the brain that train memory and concentration: poker, preference, chess, backgammon, computer games like Tetris, Sudoku.

True, psychologists dealing with the development of intelligence advise, having achieved mastery in one game, proceed to the next. After all, the brain, having understood how to play, for example, Sudoku, begins to be lazy, while new synaptic connections are no longer formed so actively. In order for the brain to be loaded and continue to work hard, you need to constantly keep it in a state of some difficulty.

Learning to think creatively

3.1. We develop creative thinking, the ability to create original ideas and think outside the box.

For example, we take a certain problem and find from 10 to 20 ways to solve it, especially without limiting our imagination. So,

we were caught on the street by heavy rain, there is no umbrella, it is far from home, and the rain, most likely, for a long time;

we are in a hurry to an important meeting, and our heel suddenly breaks;

a wallet with money and credit cards disappeared, and we are in a strange city;

we were invited to a party where we do not know anyone except the hostess, who was urgently called to work;

3.2. After watching a movie, we come up with our own name

3.3. We open any book and write out 10 words taken at random from it. And now we will try to find a connection between them and compose a short story of 10 sentences from them ;

3.4. Imagine ourselves as an architect , before whom the customer set the task to design a house. The house is not simple: the project should reflect 10 words invented by the customer: fish, walnut, brick, cat, water, etc. We fantasize and draw a brick house, next to it is a walnut tree on which the cat sits and looks at the fish swimming in pond, etc .;

3.5. We choose any object that we like in the room, and we select 5 adjectives that correspond to it the most. For example, orange is juicy, Spanish, orange, tasty, sweet. And 5 adjectives that are least suitable for him: feline, sharp, shawl, grassy, cloudy;

3.6. Draw 20 crosses on a piece of paper and, on the basis of each of them, draw an object that tells us our imagination: for example, a mill, a saucepan, a dragonfly, a chessboard. Instead of crosses as a template for future pictures, you can draw circles or two perpendicular lines.

We are not looking for easy ways

Progress makes many tasks easier for us, but our brains, without stress, relax at the same time. Take, for example, a calculator, thanks to which we have successfully forgotten how to perform even the simplest arithmetic operations in the head or on paper.

Or GPS to help you navigate the terrain. Accustomed to it, over time, they find that they are no longer able to do without it, so much they have lost their own sense of orientation.

To help us, translation programs have also been created, which at the same time worsen our knowledge of languages, since they deprive the brain of the opportunity to practice in them.

Technology makes life easier, but cognitive performance suffers as the brain needs training. Of course, you do not need to give up the benefits of civilization and the products of modern technologies, but sometimes you should give your brain work to keep it in good shape.

We communicate on the network

Social networks like Twitter, Google+ and others make it possible to connect with a lot of new people. A different environment, new knowledge and ideas open up new opportunities and allow you to look at your own problems from a different point of view, find new ways to solve them. In the development of intelligence, the role of the collective mind is undeniable.

Preparation

If you are facing increased mental development and intellectual work, start planning in advance how you will overcome it. Then the heavy load on the brain will not come as a surprise. The same technique helps a lot when an “adrenaline” event awaits you – for example, a week before jumping from the bungee, in the smallest details draw in your imagination how everything will go.

Doing nothing

Procrastination is a completely normal reaction to situations of tension and stress. It's much easier to flip through your friend's feed instead of tackling an important report. The next time you feel that your hands are dropping in front of the next “elephant” (difficult task), just … free them. And at the same time, ventilate the brain from the shaft of information – sit in silence and tranquility. Such total idleness will calm you down, and then work will go uphill. But procrastination will not have such an effect.

Complication

The task can be deep and complex, but downright boring. A good example is reading, during which you start nodding off. To prevent this from happening, bring activity into the process: take notes on what you read. This will increase the concentration of the brain.

Time control

If you feel tired and tempted to get distracted while completing a task, set yourself a challenge: time it and see if you can concentrate on the process for another 20 minutes. If you feel tired again, take another look at your watch and try to work for another 15 minutes. Of course, sooner or later you will need to take a break, but thanks to this technique, you will increase the intervals of productivity. This is a direct analogy to the gradual increase in weight that a person lifts in the gym.

I'm fine fellow!

As you get bogged down in a difficult task, remind yourself of your previous victories over seemingly overwhelming problems. This is a direct confirmation that you know how to overcome obstacles. And start any job small – small steps on the road to success will give you confidence.

Hello anxiety

Do not try to extinguish your anxiety and fear about the difficult work ahead. In reasonable doses, these emotions act on the sympathetic nervous system like excitement – wellness! The satisfaction of successfully completing difficult tasks is one of the key pleasures in a person's life, comparable to the feeling of a perfect feat. And if something does not bother you, then it will not be able to sincerely please.

Why do I need it?

The brain is an organ that has not yet been fully studied. Some scientists claim that we use only 10% of the work of the whole brain, others increase this figure, but one thing is clear – the main organ has unlimited possibilities of work.

It is generally accepted that the brain is the laziest organ. If it is not developed, then it will degrade. If you constantly load him with work, new neural connections will appear, and a person will become more flexible, adaptive in life.

These neural connections tend to disappear as quickly as they appear. Therefore, it is important to anchor them. The development of the intellect does exactly this – it strengthens the educated connections. With the help of this consolidation, memory, attention, thinking and other processes of our psyche develop.

Is it possible to improve intelligence

Intelligence is not a bun that I bought and that's it. It needs to be developed, and after hard work you will become smarter and more interesting to those around you. Our main “processor” of the body is endowed with plasticity and the ability to change depending on the actions performed. Therefore, intelligence is not possible, but it must be improved!

IQ tests

IQ tests are snapshots of your current knowledge from different fields. Specialists in the work of mental processes have developed tests for different age groups. You can find techniques for preschoolers, schoolchildren, adolescents and adults. Let's consider the most popular of the methods.

“Is your IQ above average?” A method for determining your IQ level with pictures. A simple test that gives quick results.

“IQ test”. A very indicative test, since not only correct answers are taken into account, but the speed of calculation, analytics and other indicators.

“IQ test”. Passing the test does not take much time, it is convenient to give answers and determine your development.

Eysenck's IQ test. You have to answer 40 questions. This method in psychology is considered one of the best and most revealing.

If you get less than expected results, don't be discouraged! After all, any test assesses your readiness for certain logical tasks, but not your ingenuity, intelligence and wisdom in life, which determine your success. And self-development can be carried out not only with the help of IQ, but also with the help of books on personal growth.

General recommendations for why and how to develop intelligence for an adult

The term intelligence is understood as the ability of our psyche to adapt to new circumstances, learn new things, remember and analyze information, form hypotheses and apply the acquired skills and knowledge to solve diverse problems. An intellectually developed person is one who has a good memory, developed abstract thinking, has clear moral principles, as well as the ability to interact with the outside world and concentrate on achieving goals.

The development of intellectual abilities occurs throughout life, and by using different ways of stimulating the brain, you can improve your general level or specific qualities of the psyche. With regular exercise, you can:

master the principles of critical thinking;

quickly find ways out in difficult situations;

memorize and process large amounts of information;

reason and act logically;

highlight the main thing among the abundance of unnecessary information;

generate ideas;

increase work productivity – do not waste time on trifles, concentrating on the main task;

maintain clarity of thinking and memory in old age;

gain the skills necessary to get into a prestigious position;

perceive artistic images;

better understand the behavior of other people.

There is no single strategy on how to develop intelligence in an adult or a child. Each of us chooses in which direction to move, which methods to use and how to apply them in practice. At the same time, you need to understand that intellectual development is a complex process, and in order to achieve success, you should adhere to the following rules:

never stop, because the brain works effectively only with regular exercise;

do not limit yourself to templates and do not look for easy ways – by “sucking”, you deprive yourself of the opportunity to become smarter;

ensure for yourself not only the development of the mind, but also the physical activity that is needed for the normal functioning of the circulatory system and maintaining a healthy metabolism;

take care of development in different directions and change types of activities;

give up bad habits, enough sleep and rest;

learn to perceive failure as a rewarding experience;

use your mind in everyday and work tasks.

Effective exercise

When deciding for yourself how to develop intellectually, pay attention to what psychologists and personal growth coaches advise to do:

Play logic games like backgammon, chess, poker.

Solve puzzles and crosswords.

Participate in intellectual competitions, including online.

Engage in exact sciences.

Read books, choosing literature that activates thinking – detective stories, novels of classics, autobiographies of famous people, etc.

Discover new abilities in yourself through university studies, online courses or self-study guides.

Learn foreign languages and travel to broaden your horizons.

Thinking about difficult questions, for example, what will happen to the planet in 100 years, why does a person have two eyes, etc.

Make plans for the long term, taking into account as many factors as possible.

Master the game on a musical instrument.

Meditate regularly.

Try to write a story or a book.

Proper nutrition

In addition to a variety of workouts, there is another effective way to develop the mind and improve thinking: to provide yourself with a balanced diet. Our brain is a kind of computer that requires power, and the greater the mental stress, the more seriously you need to take menu planning. Such products stimulate intellectual development:

Walnuts, Brazilian and other nuts, as well as seeds (in a metered amount), which clarify thinking and have a good effect on the ability to analyze and memorize information.

Fish, oysters and other seafood are high in omega-3 and other amino acids. To boost intelligence, eat fish baked or steamed rather than fried.

Fruits and vegetables are an essential part of the daily diet, without which not only the brain, but also other organs and systems will not be able to function normally. Spinach, carrots, beets, cabbage, apricots, as well as pears and apples are the ones that most affect mental performance.

A variety of spices, especially cinnamon, saffron and curry, to enhance cognitive function and help treat neurological disorders.

Raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, which contain many antioxidants necessary to prevent aging of the brain and revitalize its blood supply.

As you explore ways to grow mentally and morally every day, consider the following tips:

avoid eating foods high in pesticides and preservatives;

control the amount of food so as not to gain excess weight;

give up carbonated drinks and alcohol;

minimize the intake of smoked meats, especially sausages, in which there is nothing useful, but a huge amount of “E-nis”;

form a food intake – it is absolutely impossible to alternate periods of malnutrition and overeating;

do not forget to have breakfast, but eating a lot at night is undesirable – the brain also rests during sleep, so you should not stimulate it once again, as well as overload the gastrointestinal tract;

select a menu taking into account allergic reactions and recommendations of doctors, if you have chronic diseases and need to take any medications.

Eating right is important at any age, but the development of intelligence in children is especially strongly dependent on food, so try to include the listed foods not only in your own, but also in the children's diet. And, of course, do not forget to exercise, and in a short period of time you will notice positive changes.

Set clear personal development goals

The truth is that “I want to be a better person” is a resonating ideal, but a terrible personal developmental goal. Because it's not specific enough. With such a goal, you do not know where to start, you will randomly move from one area of self-improvement to another, and you will not get very far.

Once you know you want to improve yourself, it's time to set more specific personal development goals. This entails thinking about the specific areas where you want to improve yourself and identifying the exact competencies to develop.

As a rule, try to work only on developing several competencies at the same time so as not to overwhelm yourself. Not only do you need to have specific goals, but also plan when you will work on them so that you don't try to work with everyone at once.

Choose the best information

There is a lot of information in the field of self-improvement. There are tens of thousands of books and the Internet is filled with millions of articles.

Unfortunately, over 90% of the information available is ineffective. This is usually general, oversimplified, impractical, repetitive, poorly understood, or simply incorrect information. It's so easy these days for someone to write a few articles and post them online, or even publish a digital book, that the niche has become overwhelmed with low quality content.

The implication is that in order to truly improve yourself and do it effectively, you need to seek and find the best information available. Do your research, evaluate information carefully, and be open-minded, but use critical thinking at the same time.

The best quality information about personal development is the information you have to pay for. Whether in the form of books, courses, etc. This does not mean that you will not find quality information for free, nor that all paid information is of quality.

However, as a rule, the best information will come from real experts, and these people will provide some information for free, but they will also charge you for many. After all, they are experts, they know how valuable what they have to offer, and they make a living offering it. So get ready to invest some money in improving yourself.

Mass action

Self-development means 20%, for the most part, receiving information, and at least 80% of its application. This means that you will have to spend at least 4 times more time practicing than studying information.

There are people who claim to be in the business of personal development, but unfortunately this all means that they have a lot of self-help books to read, but almost nothing applies.

Therefore, such people change almost nothing in themselves. They gain an understanding of what and how they need to change, but in reality they do not change.

Wondering how to improve yourself? Find the right information, set precise goals, and take massive action. Always keep this in mind and focus on taking multiple actions. Be a performer first, not a reader.

Sources used and useful links on the topic: https://TopThinkBlog.ru/s-chego-nachat-samorazvitie/ https://www.dreamwomen.club/zhenskoe-samorazvitie-s-chego-nachat/ https: // Qvilon. ru / samorazvitie / 9-sposobov-samorazvitiya.html https://srazu.pro/razvitie/samorazvitie-s-chego-nachat.html https://www.oum.ru/yoga/samorazvitie-i-samosovershenstvzvanie/samora i–tseli vozmozhnosti / https://zen.yandex.ru/media/myself_development/poshagovaia-instrukciia-po-lichnomu-samorazvitiiu-5e29df0d2fda8600b1aa1d69 https://BBF.ru/magazine/26/6999/ https: // the blog .wikium.ru / kak-razvit-umstvennye-sposobnosti-10-prostyh-uprazhnenij.html https://levelself.ru/navyki/kak-stat-umnee-i-povysit-uroven-intellekta.html https://trey.pro/base/380-kak-razvit-intellekt-vzroslomu-cheloveku.html https://happylifestyle.ru/4-prostyih-shaga-kak-uluchshit-sebya/

Post source: lastici.ru

Where to start self-development?
