Under this diagnosis lies a fungal disease, which is caused by the active reproduction of Candida. With the transition of the disease into a chronic form, there is a risk of serious complications.<\/p>\n
There are 140 types of candida fungus. The most common cause of thrush in women is Candida albicans. This fungus releases toxins that, with prolonged exposure to the body, can cause an allergic reaction, diseases of the genital organs, gastrointestinal tract, as well as mental illness.<\/p>\n

However, fungi are not permanent or predominant representatives of the vaginal fauna. Now I wrote this word and thought: I wonder why, when it comes to microbes, they say microflora? After all, “flora” are plants, and “fauna” are animals. Or are microorganisms more like plants?<\/p>\n

The main inhabitants of the vagina are lactobacilli. They make up more than 90%.<\/p>\n
Bifidobacteria and opportunistic microbes also live here in minimal quantities: gardnerella, mycoplasma, streptococci, staphylococci, anaerobes, etc.<\/p>\n
Lactobacilli perform a very important function: they protect the vagina from external microorganisms, restrain the excessive reproduction of “neighbors” and do not allow them to go all out.<\/p>\n
Vaginal epithelium is a multilayer structure. Like the stratum corneum of the skin's epidermis, young epithelial cells arise in the lowest layer, which divide, mature, moving to the upper layers, and then slough off.<\/p>\n
There is glycogen in the epithelial cells of the vagina. Lactobacilli break it down to form lactic acid. This maintains the acidic environment in the vagina at a level of 3.8-4.5, which protects it from pathogenic bacteria.<\/p>\n
Hence it is clear why you cannot use douching with a solution of soda, which doctors are so fond of recommending. Soda alkalizes the vagina and provokes gynecological problems.<\/p>\n
And in general, any douching is harmful, tk. wash out beneficial microbes, violate the ratio of good and conditionally bad bacteria. There are fewer good ones, but a holy place is never empty, so it is filled with the very conditionally pathogenic bacteria that were just waiting for this to start multiplying.<\/p>\n

During this period, a large number of destroyed endometrial and blood cells enter the vagina, and the environment here shifts to the alkaline side (pH increases to 5.0-6.0).<\/p>\n
Therefore, the risk of contracting thrush at the beginning of the menstrual cycle increases.<\/p>\n
Vulvovaginal candidiasis (thrush) is not a sexually transmitted infection, although the same fungal strains are found in sexual partners. Most likely, this pathology can be associated with a defect in the immune system at different levels (a decrease in general or local immunity). Candidiasis is not a disease, since these opportunistic microorganisms are present in a healthy person.<\/p>\n
