Mole tunnels are located below the surface and deeper. The ridges on the lawn belong to the aft tunnels, and the deep tunnels connect the aft tunnels into a single network.

The mole is not one of those animals that live alone. Therefore, if this animal appears on the site, it means that somewhere very close there is his family, which can be quite numerous.

What to do if a mole starts up in the garden? How to get rid of it?

Today we will talk about folk methods of fighting moles.

Destruction of the food supply

This is one of the most humane methods that will force moles to leave the site. Moles feed on small insects and animals – slugs, earthworms, snails, various larvae and small invertebrates. If insecticidal treatments are carried out in a timely manner, then the moles will have nothing to eat.

In moles, although there is practically no sight, the sense of smell is well developed. This feature can be used to get rid of them. To do this, you need a rotten fish, herring smells best. It is laid in the holes of moles. Sensitive animals will not tolerate such smells, but people, most likely, too, so such products are not very popular.

You can also use rotten meat and rotten vegetables.

An easy way to scare off a mole is to bury empty bottles with their necks up in the ground so that they rise slightly above the soil level. The action is based on the fact that the wind, falling into the necks of the bottles, creates a vortex with the propagation of not only a buzzing sound, but also soil vibration, a kind of micro earthquake.

A similar effect is given by surface devices made from plastic bottles or aluminum cans, put on rods stuck in the ground. First, special windows with blades are cut out in the containers, which are affected by the wind and make them spin and make noise.

You can drive away pests with the help of fragrant herbs. You can remove moles from the site using garlic and legumes. Pests cannot stand these odors and quickly leave the site.

Spicy aromatic herbs with a pungent odor are a simple effective and practically harmless remedy. You can list such common plants as bitter wormwood, peppermint, bitter red crushed pepper. Plant substances are also found near burrows and molehills.

Tobacco, both snuff and smoking, is not to the liking of many animals. The easiest and cheapest way to use is tincture of cigarette butts.

Another way to get rid of these animals is with kerosene, naphthalene and ammonia. Any of these substances must be soaked in pieces of fabric, and then shoved into holes. The pests will immediately smell the foul smell and leave. But this method does not always help.

Sometimes pests simply dig new holes near their old passages.

More about liquids:

Kerosene. (Kerosene solution: 100 ml per bucket of water). In the solution, they simply moisten tow or rags and place them in molehills.

Naphthalene. It is believed that the persistent and strong odor scares away blind rodents.

Castor oil, most animals don't like the smell. Castor oil is filled into small containers and distributed over the area of the site.

Fuel oil or antifreeze. Potent substances retain their aroma for a long time. Typically, tow and rags soaked in substances are used.

Vinegar essence. The substance repels small pests well, but evaporates quickly and loses its effectiveness.

Chlorine bleaches. Rapidly evaporating substances scare off mammals, but for this, whiteness or another agent must be poured into a small container and lowered into the wormhole.

You can get rid of the animals using simpler folk methods, for example, by flooding their holes with water. The animals will leave the dug holes and go to other places. But when the water dries up, they can return. A significant disadvantage is that there is a high probability of waterlogging of the site.

The most effective, environmentally friendly and humane way to remove animals is the use of an electronic repeller. The principle of its work is that it emits waves that a person does not feel, but moles feel discomfort.

Such devices have a good area of impact in the ground, and they are safe for other living organisms. Thus, you can get rid of moles once and for all without harming the earth or the microorganisms living in it.

You can get rid of moles in the garden with the help of a dog.

The dog must be of a hunting breed and small size, for example a dachshund. This breed was bred specifically for hunting in burrows. Such a hunt will bring great pleasure to the dachshund, and the pests will flee.

You can get rid of moles with a homemade trap. But this method is suitable for those gardeners in areas where there are few animals. To make a trap, you need a small pipe equal to the diameter of the animal's mink. On the side of the pipe, doors are made that open only in one direction. If the animal gets into such a pipe, it will not be able to escape from there.

To get rid of moles, you can install a fence around the site.

To do this, it is necessary to build a fence from slate, roofing material or other materials around the entire perimeter of the site. The fence will prevent these animals from entering the site, therefore, it should be up to 20 cm above ground level, and buried in the ground to a depth of 50-60 cm.

Scare away with smoke bombs

Fighting moles with smoke bombs is very effective, since sulfuric smoke is quite poisonous. But, at the same time, this method cannot give a guaranteed result, since new families of moles will come to replace the old ones, and the smoke itself can negatively affect the root system of plants: they can get sick or even die (in particular, young plantings).

Unfortunately, no method gives a 100% result, so tune in to a long struggle. Good luck!

Post source: lastici.ru

Cute little animals can leave gardeners without a crop.
